axle shim dana44 to chevy 10 bolt front ?

this may seem like a dumb question
will dana44 shims work in a chevy 10 bolt front. as in can you set up a chevy 10 bolt front using leftover shim's from a high pinon dana44? or vice-versa

As long as the shims are large enough O.D. to completely shim the race and have a large enough I.D. to clear the the pinion shaft or end of the carrier bearing I wouldn't see why not. It's just metal of a certain thickness cut to a diameter with a smaller diameter cut out of it. As long as they would completely support the race, not too small or large and the I.D. is big enough I would use them. As far as have I personally tried that particular interchange, no; so I wouldn't go order a shim kit for a D44 to use in you 10 bolt. But yes i have used shims from between different axles as long as the were of correct size

well i have a ton of shim's for my 44 and my brother want's to lock up his front 10 bolt. just debating if he can use the shim's I have and get bearing/race's locally or if he need's to order an install kit.
