I have got most of the AC components removed except for the box on the firewall. Is there a aftermarket Box for the one without AC or is this a junk yard part. Thanks Dirty

Even the aftermarket A/C kits used factory A/C housings, no way aftermarket is going to repop the the non A/C housing.

Crossed threads are tight threads.
I think your only option would be making one out of sheet metal, which actually would be relatively easy, as in maybe a bend or two and some self tappers would do it. Maybe a bead of silicone around to seal it on.

Figured it would be a trip to the junk yard. Most ranger as old as this one is has been picked clean. Wont to get as much room in the bay as i can. Thanks Dirty

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Been wanting to do mine like this. AC hasn't worked for years, and I ain't fixing it or payin someone to do it. I'm used to drivin around windows down in any event. Even in my "other" vehicles that have ac, I rarely ever use it. Plus I ride two motorcycles and wear full protective gear when doing so. So I just allow my body to get used to the heat, and it's not a problem. Even after having just turned 60 a few weeks ago.

I finally just cut the box down (removed the evaporator coil) and put sheet metal over it. Had to move the resistor for the fan motor but it still
heats fine. I have a Vintage Air system on order and will remove all of the old system components to install that which will get rid of ll the stuff in the engine compartment. If you want it let me know. I'll ship on your dime.

That looks to be a better solution from factory. My 1998 didn’t have AC but still had the box poking into the engine bay. Not so much of a big deal with a four-banger but does really get in the way with a V6.

83-94 basically had a factory looking version of that. 95-11 they basically just closed off the holes for the non-A/C box.

The two 83-94 versions:

Must have been a budget cut by the bean counters then. One housing for everyone and one less part to keep in inventory.

I suppose few and fewer people were checking the "A/C delete" box by the mid 90's too and that probably played into it.

Even in the 83-94 reign non A/C boxes are kind of hard to scrounge up.

the grey-t escape
The a/c box on a gen 3 is close enough to the exhaust manifold on a V6 that if your exhaust flange comes apart you will melt a hole in it from the exhaust.
