Hi, just wondering if there are any differences in the 90-94 explorer A4LD Transmissions? Mainly, does the 94 still have the Vacuum Modulator?

The reason I ask is because I need to replace the 3-4 shift solenoid, and I dont want to spend the 300+ that the dealership is wanting for the solenoid, and I found some on ebay for 39 bucks.

So, does my 94 still have the vacuum modulator? If so, where is it?
Has anybody on here reploplaced the 3-4 shift solenoid? If so, How hard was it?

Righty tighty , lefty loosey ??

Seriously , drop the pan and filter. It's the rear-most solenoid. Undo the bolts that attach it.

Not much more to be said.

On an A4LD you have to drop valve body to change solenoid so make sure you have valve body gaskets ..you will need them.

Are you sure the valve body has to come off? It looks like they would just come out. I have never done it, so that's why I am asking.

If I do have to drop the valve body, is there anything I have to be careful about? Are there any parts that are going to come out?

Can anyone confirm this?
