Today I was driving my Ranger and out of the blue the engine kinda sputtered a bit and my Check Engine light came on. I was in the alley behind my house, so I know I wasn't pushing her too hard. I drove back around out front and killed the engine. When my wife came out to see what was wrong I tried to start her again. She didn't really sound right and didn't start right up like she usually does, but she did start. When I put my foot straight down on the gas pedal, the engine bogged down and tried to die. When I let up, it came back and idled normally. If I slowly pushed down on the gas pedal, it revved up just fine. I don't have a tach, so I don't know what my RPMs were, but when it seemed like it was revving okay, I punched it. The whole truck moved and it sounded like something hit the underside of the hood. I killed the engine and popped the hood. I had my wife start it this time, and when she did, the entire driver's side of the engine lifted up about three or four inches. I'm pretty sure I've somehow managed to snap an engine mount, but my question is this: Would a snapped motor mount cause the engine to bog down when I punch the gas pedal? Or am I dealing with another issue possibly caused by the excessive movement of the engine? Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
