I have a 97 Ranger 2.3L 2WD, and need to know whether the rear brakes are 9.5" or 10" (AutoZone lists both, with no way to determine which one). Is there a number on the door or axle that will tell me which size I have? (There is a reason I do not want to remove a wheel to check.) Thanks.

Look on the door tag. It will have a number or a letter and a number listed for your axle. Take that code and look in the tech library under Axle Codes. There will be a chart in there that will tell you what axle you have. If you have a 7.5" axle, you will have the 9" brakes. (Most likely a 7.5" axle) on the off chance that you do have an 8.8, then it will have 10" brakes.
