I have a 1997 Ranger with the 4.0 and 5r55e tranny. I have heard a lot about this "Adaptive Shift Control" and was wondering when ford started using this technology in these transmisions, does mine have it? If anyone has any info or knows where i can find some that would be a great help, thanks

5R55E doesn't have the adaptive shift strategy. Didn't really come around untill the 5R55S/N/W in around 2002. You wanna see adaptive shifts?? Torqshift behind the 6.0l diesel in 2003. It will sense a clutch failure then avoid shifting into that gear. Example, low/reverse clutch failed ON ( 1st and 2nd gear ) TCM ( trans control module ) will not command any other gear other than 1st 2nd and reverse.
