I ended up picking up a 94 explorer as the donor for for my 88 broncoii project. I have been through the tech info a lot, there's is still a couple unanswered questions I have. My plans are to take the dash the engine and all wiring involved and swap over, but here's the question. The explorer has a column shift with auto transferase, can I retain the manual shift transfer case that I have in the bii now, and eliminate the floor transmission shift.. Maybe some kind of aftermarket single stick shifter for transfer case? I have found a lot of info on this however there are some grey areas and most info has to do with manual transmission ... Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Yes. Just keep the donor,so you can modify the 88 as needed.

I used a 91 Mazda Navajo for my donor, and I had no problems with the swap, if you run into trouble, these guys on here are full of know-how, you'll have no troubles!
