My 97 ranger has a filter that is easy ro replace as the fuel lines have a removable plastic clip. My 2006 Ranger uses a different fuel line connection and I can't figure out how it works. I can see a orange and green clip but I'm not sure if it's suppose to be removed. I already have the fuel line disconnect tool kit. How are these lines removed without screwing them up? Thanks :icon_twisted:

the orange and green tabs you have to push in with your thumb and then push the line onto the filter then pull off, the fittings on the filter are barbed and the tabs lock the line on them. they can be pretty darn hard to push depending on the condition under the truck, if you break them, ford's solution is to replace the whole line...autozone carries a kit to salvage the line with a broken fitting. those fittings on the newer fords are another one of those engineering miracles designed to make things easier, however they are really quite difficult and delicate to work with.

there are like 3 or 4 different types of fittings used in various model years, what i described are the ones i have, you may have something different, a picture would be helpful, one of the other types of fittings you press the "wings" on the clips together and pry them half way off so they unlock the line from the barb on the filter...idk if that makes any sense, very hard to describe without a visual.
