I just got a 1986 ranger 2.9 change plugs wires hole nine yards ran good for 2 days change the battery with a new one truck ran fine for about 15 mins the start to pop didn't want to run but if you unplug the battery it ran better but not great got it home about 3 miles away change the tfi an fix 3 wires going to it an it ran a lot better but keep missing on cy number 2 new cap the 2nd one an rotor 2nd one tried 4 diff plugs an wires on cy number 2 an keeps doing the same thing it has stark on start up for about 5 seconds an stop??? then if you unplug the pin to adjust timing it has spark an runs fine then it short out the tif an the ecm??? what the hell after tried a used ecm out of my b2 ran ok then did the same thing what am I missing I don't see an bad wires? an I just read the tif in the tech articles kinda need this truck for work been working on it for 3 days now cant fig it out?
oh yeah if you pull the pin out to adjust the timing I got spark on all 6 an runs fine don't miss a beat
