Lookin good!

I'm not a fan of Yellow tho...

That little 2.8 should have some pep once you get that TBI tuned and dialed in.

Thanks.

My dad is jelious and wants to put one on his when he gets the money. This one was his but he gave it to me. But it does give more power then the factory carb. can put out. His carb. is starting to give him problems.

300 for a D44 pair is a great deal. As for the jeep, are the axles coming off of it? i know it has the leaves on the front that you will need, but are those the axles you are going to use? If, so then does it have a passenger side pinion/drop?

Cant wait to see your truck in the can't turn back stage, to the point where it has to be 4x4!!!

Heres my todo-now list:

Get exhaust on (getting welder back memorial day weekend)
Tune the engine
Fix the rear brake line that blew up

Later on todo list: SAS
Need leafs
Shakles
Cut the coil stuff the D30
Check the pinion lash on my D35
Shocks-front (might get away using the rear ones)
Shock mounts
Steering linkage
Lug bolt (D30)
Brake lines (front)
Drive shafts (figure that out when I get to that point)

Todo list body:

Truck bed wheel wells
Driver side tail light (have it)
Doors ( have them)
replace driver side fender (have it)
Cab corners - http://raybuck.com/
Piant

Interior todo list:

Floor boards
60/40 seats- get rid of the center seat
New radio
89-94 Explorer/Ranger dash swap (mabey)

Other:

Selling my 1987 2.3 liter engine.

As you can see I have a lot to do and this will all occur over another year. I might have forgot somethings but this is a rough outline of things to come.

A D30 swap or other axles such as D44, D60, etc?

Hers info. on a D30.

http://therangerstation.com/tech_library/Dana30.htm

Heres some helpful info on a D44 swap.

http://therangerstation.com/tech_library/Dana44.htm

http://therangerstation.com/tech_library/sas.html

http://therangerstation.com/tech_library/dana44overview.htm

http://therangerstation.com/tech_library/narrowing_a_ford_dana44.htm

Also depends on if you want to use coils or leaves. Me I'm going with leaves because they are easier to do for a n00b like me. I've NEVER done this so as far as helpful info. this was about all I can give you.
All I can say is read what others have done (like me) read old and new thread and ask them questions, look at pictures, I saved them to my computer for something to look at. The set-up you choose will determine what you do with your vehicle. So I cant tell you what you need until you do your homework on this and decide what set-up your going to use. But by the time you do all that you should have a pretty good idea of what you need.

Basicly only you can answer what you need for now. Hope I've helped you out in some way. I'm still doing my homework on this and finding out what I need.

+1. read all the tech stuff and read some other builds in the extreme suspensions section.

DR83: yes the axles will be out of a jeep. dont i need driver drop??? beats me... haha i just stumbled upon the ad on usedregina(online classifieds) and thought, heck, ill search dana 44. boom. there it was. asking 900. i inquired and he said he'd keep the MSD ignition and sell it to me for 300, whole thing. doesnt run but has good tranny/tcase. just needs some wiring and someone to set up the carb for it to run. so perhaps next week when i get paid ill go pick it up. probably gotta tow it. SO. now i just gotta figure out where im gonna put it. we have.....10 vehicles at my house with a single lane driveway that fits...4. and a BIG motor home(included in the 10) and i also counted my dads trailer. and the 68 roadrunner in the garage. hogging our 2 car garage with its infinite parts. i need a fricken garage.

And I sure can help you out with the TBI swap plus e-mail you a wiring diagram for an 1984 thunderbird to help hook it up, got mine from my library.

http://therangerstation.com/tech_library/2_8_FuelInjection.html

I did everthing it said but the exhaust up grade. My truck already had the electric factory fuel pumps in it from when I had my 87 4 banger in it. Or just make sure your fuel pressure is at 44psi if you dont use factory pumps.

Mine doesnt have any of the exhaust emissions stuff hooked to it.

Other guys have said they have done this swap to a ton of these trucks. The only reason I have this system is because my dad had it on his truck but he was running to much pressure and it was giving the motor why to much fuel and didn't have the money to buy a regulator so he out the carb. back on it (BTW we had just put a rebuilt 2.8 in his truck that only had 27,000 miles on it and got it, well the whole truck, for $50), meaning I got his 180,000 mile engine in mine now.

Basicly if you do do this swap take your time make sure everything is hooked up correctly and like I did put the computer on last just to be safe, I didnt have any problems, mine started right up on the first try. But like my list says I still need to tune everything, i.e. set idle, get new throttle cable(to long made for the 2.3 engine), timing, etc....

I havent read another thread where somebody else has done this. Everybody is putting 4.0's or v-8's in there trucks. Thats another reason why I decided to do this, I love the 2.8.

Hope this helps you out.
