1995 Ranger 4.0L Random Wire

Hello I'm a brand new member but come here a lot for help.

I have a 1995 Ford Ranger v6 4.0L that I changed the head gasket on about a year ago. When I was putting it back together the yellow circled electrical plug didn't get put back. I drove it around for about a month before a check engine light came on saying my engine was misfiring. I stopped driving it after that and it's maybe been driven twice in the last 6 months. I'm pretty sure all my plugs and wires are on right so the only other thing I can think of is this plug. Could be way wrong lol but we are getting it ready to sell and I'm trying to get it fixed but I'm stumped.

The red circled plug is a similar looking plug and where it's plugged in compared to this one....you'd think it would just be on the other side but there is another sensor type thing plugged in there.

Does anyone have any idea where this plug goes?

Its the coolant temperature sender, it controls the temp gauge in the instrument cluster. The one on the opposite side with two wires is the temperature sensor that gives feedback to the ECU.

It would not cause a misfire.

The yellow one is probably for your oil pressure sensor. It’s down on the side of the engine near the power steering pump.

Thank you! It was the oil pressure sensor. I must have a bad wire or something. Thanks for your help!

I would strongly encourage you to install the upper half of your intake manifold and all associated equipment, sensors and wiring. Trust me. It'll run better that way.
