1995 Ranger 4.0l 4r55e trans discontinued... can use mazda 4r55e?

Ford dealer says they cant get a new trans for me but can offer the mazda equivilent... am I safe to assume it will work the same??

i should of worded a lil better, the mazda trans has a mazda part number, too long to remember, I know the truck are very much the same but I dont know how far that extend goes.

They go for around $800 here rebuilt.

yea paradise tax is high! well I ordered the mazda trans yeserday, will update thread in case someone else needs the info later.

Doesn't make much sense seeing as the Mazda B series and Ford ranger were the same exact truck, however both are discontinued and Mazda and Ford aren't partnered anymore. So how Mazda has a trans but Ford doesn't...weird.
