Is just one leaf broken? If so, you can just replace the broken leaf on that side. If you are going to replace the whole spring it would be better to replace both rear springs at the same time. A complete new spring height is always different from a old used spring.

The guy I got the truck from already replaced the passenger side leaf pack before I got the truck. The driver is not broken, but it is flat and the truck has a bad lean on the driver side. So I wanted just to get a whole new pack.

Who knows what he put in there. Can you find any numbers on the new pack he installed?

Alright it still had a sticker on it. It is a 3/1 general spring 43-781 so based on the web site it's a 1250lb spring. I'll go ahead and order one. Thanks for the help.

Deengineer until it is how Blue Oval should have sold it!!
John,

I would get a set if Ranger or Explorer packs from the wrecking and build them up level with all the leaves.

So I swapped in a new leaf spring it was a massive pain that took 3 hours. Involving broken death wheels, air impacts and air hammers. Finally I got the old one off. It only took cutting, the rear bolt and hammering it out, the u bolt nuts were the easy part. Then the spring came right out. If you were reading carefully you would have noticed I only mentioned taking the u bolt nuts off and the rear bolt. Why did the spring come off without me removing the front bolt you might ask? This picture is why. That's right there was nothing but the weight of the truck keeping the front of the leaf "on". So I'm very happy I replaced the spring because it would have been extremely bad if that popped out while driving.
