Unfortunately my computer is soundless, so it is hard for me to figure it out.
Could you give an idea of were the ticking is coming from. And is it a loud tick ?

I would guess the noise is coming from the top end. If this is the case, you may be able to rebuild the heads/valvetrain and be done with it.

Have you run a compression check on all cylinders? It looks like it is misfiring. There is a good possibility a compression check will tell you what cylinder has the problem.

If you aren't really familiar with engines it would be well worth the expense of paying a good shop to diagnose the problem and go from there. Depending on where you are and what shop, expect to pay about $80 to $120 for an hour of diagnostics.

I've heard that sound from an Eclipse before- it was a thrown connecting rod.

I called a guy on a rolled 04 with a 2.3. So I might pick up that one for a back up if the damage is too much in mine. Well see on sunday when the guy calls me back on a price.

From the sound of it looks like some valve train noise. A top overhaul if all the compressions tests are okay.

What was the result of the shop diagnostics? Get the engine from the rolled-over truck?
