Sorry, I thought I posted the above message last night. When I came to post more today, I realized I never hit the post reply button.

I keep hearing that the new Bronco is going to be great, and another offroader is in the works.

But my message isn't about any new models.

Ford sent me a press release yesterday about a new marketing campaign for the Ford Ranger: Tough Has More Fun. You can see my post about it:

Or even more photos and about 10 different videos at:

So why is this cool Ranger news?

I've seen some serious commitment from Ford to make the Ford Ranger a great adventure vehicle. From teaming up with Yakima, offering racks and tents in your financing, to this new marketing campaign

More importantly, I know for fact that Ford reads TheRangerStation.com, and they wanted you guys to have all the information first hand, and not from someone else. I apologize though, I was unavailable earlier this morning to publish the information in the forum. The actual page in the articles section with the photos and videos was uploaded last night, and I set to auto publish at 9:00 am.

I think it's really cool that Ford sends this information directly to you guys here. We don't have to go fishing for it.

There is so much commitment to the new Ranger, that Pro Comp and Rough Country has already released suspension products, and the Ranger has only just recently showed up on the dealer lots.

I think Ford is still learning about off-road adventures though. Since I know they look at the website, I CHALLENGE YOU GUYS to set some examples for the new Ranger to follow!!

FORD BRING BACK THE 2.9 AND 4.9L I6!

Eh its worth a shot.

It is cool though that ford does seem to be making a commitment to the offroad market. If the bronc really turns out to be a wrangler fighter, and with the raptor, etc etc, it just shows that maybe, just maybe, the OE's havent totally forgot about guys like us.

Well that's because you were up until 2:30 testing time stamps.

All of the drawings, prints, files, tooling, molds, etc.. for the 2.9 SHOULD BE DESTROYED AND NEVER BE ALLOWED TO BE PRODUCED EVER AGAIN. IT SHOULD BE ERASED FROM HISTORY. The 2.9 was the biggest piece of crap Ford ever used besides the timing systems on the 4.0sohc - I've seen more Rangers/BII's scrapped because of the 2.9 than any other Ford product. Then there's the whole A4LD debacle.. lol

I've owned several 2.9 engines and every single one of them was junk. Even low mileage units. Cracking heads every year.. Valve-train rattle... Warped block sealing surfaces.. Cam journals warped out of round.. Heads designed so weakly/badly that an aftermarket company saw a money making opportunity in producing new castings.. The list just goes on and on.

My issue has been with Ford's transmissions after the C4/C6. I'm hopeful that the new 10-speed will be a solid unit since it's a joint venture with GM.

The last time the Ranger had a trans based on a fullsize trans it was the C5... and it was pretty good.

Being from the F-150 and adapted to fit into the Ranger gives me great hope for the new 10 speed more than any GM involvement.

I saw that picture. Looks a bit funky but if they are just testing things like the engine, transmission, turning radius, etc. Then the bodywork is irrelevant.

We'll see

that's ahellofa good photographer to get both wheels lined up exactly.

Don’t get your hopes to high, this is GM we are talking about...

I wouldn’t hold my breath, after all GM is involved with it......

The Bronco is based on the Ranger platform. I wouldn't worry about the body under that camo. I think Ford is mind fawking you.

The last time they did that we ended up with the 6F30/35 catastrophe. Do you really want that all over again? Because teaming up with GM is how you get that.

I believe the 2.9 to be one of the most under credited engines ever to run down the road. Rowdy, pissed off little bastards they may be, but unlike the other ranger offerings they had spunk and personality, and, atleast in my experance a never give up, can do attitude. Just my thoughts however.

The C6 was the best automatic trans known to man. Ive never had one fail. Which is more then i can say for E4ODs. The FMX also ranks highly on the scale of bad assery, slotted just above stone cold steve austin and just below chuck norris.

In my younger days I ran my 2.8 out of oil, out of coolant... it kept coming back for more. Still ran good when I pulled it but had enough blow by to push the dipstick out. Very high marks for just plain stupid tough in my book.
