75% of Jeeps never leave the pavement. Why would a solid axle mean anything to the mall crawlers?

Cracks me up how many Jeeps I see with large tires on stock axles that will probably break the first time someone tried to wheel it.

They already have portal front axles aftermarket...

However... the proof will be in the puttin. Won't be long and they will be in the hands of the public...

Ive seen a few around here, not many. If the local ford dealer has one, its in the showroom & not out front. Oddly enough, out front is a ‘65 f100, has plates. Not sure why they are displaying something thats not for sale.

I was at AOAA in Pennsylvania (off-road Park) on my quad, showing a group of Jeeps from NY around. Not one of the lifted, big tire, tube fender, etc Jeeps would do anything but drive the flat trails... not even hit the mud. The only one who would even try anything was the 35 year old lady in the stock Jeep that she just bought a month earlier. She was trying out rock crawling, hitting all the mud holes, just having fun on her first trip off-road.

Again this is my opinion, they are competing with Jeeps. Off-road enthusiasts (the yuppie types) want turn key rigs, that they can throw a lift on. IFS is great for the high speed desert racing types. But you can't get the all 4 tire contact articulation of a SAS or TTB. IFS is only going to articulate so far, say 6" where TTB or SAS would get 10" stock.

This is technically a new vehicle it will have bugs as all new body change vehicles have. People are aware of this and are going to stay away for the first yr or 2. Yes you will have the diehards that have to have the vehicle now. But Ford needs to get the Jeep based crowd to take to the Bronco. Jeeps have been around since WWII, Willys/Fords/etc. Ford stopped making them shortly after the war was over and didn't bring back a SUV until 66. Jeep is way ahead of the game.

I tend to disagree. Jeeps are pretty prominent in the PNW.

Extremely true fact. Cheaper to lift I guess. We also have a ton of HD trucks Ford/Dodge/GM that are mall crawlers with the tow mirrors sticking out.

Then Jeep is really screwed, they already have a year and a half of production spoken for with all the supposed wallflowers waiting a year or two. Preorders have to be built before dealers can even get stock units.

Ok, I'm only seeing a rear locker and Full-Time 4wd system that locks power to both axles. "provides electronically locked power to both axles in challenging conditions" Under the Rear Axle Ratio section there are the 2 drive ratios 4.46 and 4.7 Rear Axle Final Drive Ratio and Rear Locking Differential, what models the come with or available on and last line "Available Locking Differentials shown." Key words IMO they only show the rear axle in the pictures. Personally, I'm very skeptical but this.

edit: I'm going to have to wait until I'm off my work comp. to see the videos.
