Crossed threads are tight threads.
When @Dirtman posted pics of his uncle sam boots in a 4.6l thread, I felt it was time...

Anyways to recap, I recently switched from work boots to tactical boots for work, and like them much better.

I replace my boots often, so am always in the market. have yet to find one I would buy a 2nd pair of. I do like these bates.

I been looking at Keens for my next pair.

Most of the guys at work wear redwings/irish setter. I tried them on and did not like them.

The best boots I've ever had were Bates. Bellville is ok but not great, at least the ones the military gives us. Foot comfort is ok. Tread traction on hard surfaces is found to be wanting. They are issued to us. So there is no choice in that avenue. I could buy my own but I've found that finding combat boots with a protective toe of any kind is few and far between.

I have some Reebok and Danner boots for personal use. The ones I have are ok but I'm not a big fan of how thick they are around the ankles. More at the top of the boot than the rest of the ankle shaft. Too much padding I think. I've only wore them a few times, so determining how comfortable they are and their tread traction is still under evaluation.

I have danner and bates issued from unckie sam as well. The "FOD" boots I got from the airforce are bates, marine ones are danner. I like the newest belleville army ones the best though, they are waterproof goretex with composite toes.

The old bellevilles from 15-20 years ago had ummm... issues with durability...

I wear Danners that look like loafers at work. Pretty comfortable, only really good for working in a shop though, no insulation and a smooth bottom.

BTW why did we start a new thread!?!?! Discussing boots in a 4.6 engine thread is perfectly normal for this place. This thread is bound to wind up as an argument about the proper care of chinchillas.

Lead follow or get out of my way
I've worn KEEN shoes/boots for years... but I haven't had a requirement for a safety toe boot since I switched. I have zero experience with their safety toe boots.

I wanted a pair of Pittsburg soft toe work boots so I got a pair for Christmas. They just didn't feel right and sent them back... the reviews for the soles coming apart helped my decision.

I ordered a pair of slip on KEENS...

Buy the end of the first day they felt as comfortable of a boot as I ever owned... I like them. Time will tell what the durability will be but I have had really good luck with all of my KEEN shoes/boots.

If you work outside and have to have boots with a protective toe, I strongly recommend getting ones with a composite toe. Steel toes get cold and stay cold a LONG time. Plus, they eventually rust from feet sweat and can chew holes in the toes of your socks. Composite toe boots are still not a super common thing though. Your mileage may vary on finding some that you like and meet whatever requirements you may have to comply with.

Black boots are for people that spend more time polishing them then working.
Hardly. Black boots are for people who actually work while wearing their boots. That way they don't show all the dirt.

Chincillas should be provided a diet rich in timothy hay and a multi-level habitat as they enjoy jumping and climbing.

They also are soft and make good coats, but they are small, so you need a lot of them for that.

Black things are the best. My boots, phone, and Ranger are all black, which is the best color for all of those things.

My best tractors are red. My worst tractor is also red. The other two are green and in pieces.

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I wear Keen safety toe boots at work. They're the first boot I have found that lasts more than a year in an industrial maintenance environment. Very comfortable for me.

I also have been wearing Keen sandals for about 12+ years. They last long and are comfortable. I wear them everywhere I can when the weather is warm enough. I have another pair that has more man-made materials that are great for hiking through streams.
