Have a 91 ranger 4.0 that I’m thinking about converting to a full manual setup. Wanted to know everything I would need to do a complete swap, I’m running an auto trans and t case.🤙🏽

For minimal swap you would need the pedal assembly from an '89-94 I believe Ranger or '91-94 Ranger, transmission from a Ranger or Explorer with a 4.0L (explorers only came with 4.0L if they had a manual transmission) up through '97 that is 4x4 including shifter. Ideally you'd grab an engine computer as well so it will idle better. There's some wiring as well but it's fairly minor.

Would I need a steering column from a manual as well?

My credo
What's the worst that could happen?
Probably not - only for aesthetics. The linkage is disconnected below. You'd just have to deal with removing the column shift lever. But others will have a more educated opinion.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Would be funny to leave the column shifter there. Might confuse thieves.
