You're probably looking at GVWR, which is NOT the actual weight. The '15+ aluminum body F-150 is under 5k, and my '13 is under 6k. No way a new Ranger is going to weigh more than my steel body F-150.
No I get what you're saying. My personal vehicle numbers are actual scale weights from the scrap yard. FWIW my '88 Ranger weighs 3880lbs with me in it, tools, and a plastic bedliner.

The 6000lb Ranger number I found was from here:
https://www.autoblog.com/buy/2019-Ford-Ranger-XLT__4x2_SuperCrew_5_ft._box/specs/

And it just says "gross weight" not GVWR, I guess you could interpret that a few ways. Perhaps 6050lbs is including the 1650lbs payload they have listed which would put it at 4400.

4400 seems reasonable. After crawling all around underneath a few of them today, I don't see any way it could weigh 6k. It's bigger than our older Rangers, but not nearly as much so as it looks in the pictures. Honestly, up close I really loved the way it's laid out. The extended cab seat layout concerns me a little bit though. With the sideways jump seats of the older trucks, an adult could at least get in there and uncomfortably sit for a while if needed. There's no way on earth I could get into the back seat of the new extended cabs. That said, the crew cab was just fine. Even with Jim (6'2") in the front seat, I could tolerate the space left over in the back. Not luxurious, but perfectly adequate. And the bed is still what - 5' and change in quad cab config? It's also wider than the old ones so total bed volume is great.

the colorado seems to have a bit bigger bed. but the rangers is not too bad.

my bike wont fit in the back unless its corner to corner by itself...without something to extend it... which is a bummer.. cause i carry at least two bikes at a time. and that is with the gate down of course.

without having a diesel...paying more then 26 k for one is going to to require hypnosis or something..:D

hope you guys had fun.....i was bummed pretty bad.

Bobby, you could just sell the bed and build your own in a weekend.

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
8.8"???

Wow. Spring over and disc brakes. I wonder if it's 28 spline or 31. How long til some of those make it to my local u-pull-it yard?

That's just an 8.8? For some reason I thought it was a Dana. I wonder if we'll be able to scavenge used e lockers in the near future. The parking brake setup is much nicer than the top hat crap from the Explorers. It's a six bolt wheel setup though, so swapping a complete axle is problematic.

Both of the door stickers you sent me earlier today had 6050 for the max gvwr. 4400+/- curb weight doesn’t sound too far off.

Not an 8.8 unless they changed the shape of the cover and bolt pattern.

An 8.8 is almost round and only has one bolt on the bottom.

Fastpakr was the only one at the event crawling under it to look. We were getting some weird looks.

If Ford doesn't want to give us the details, I'm not above crawling around to find out. :)
