You don't have to use inverted. I raised the engine 3/16ths of an inch using 2 or 3 washers between motor mount and block, fits fine.

With the inverted pump you have some space on the side. Using washers as noted may work, but still leaves it close and if the engine tilts . could be bad. But if it works for you hey do it. I would do a conversion like this and not use all new parts on things like that, so if you have to buy a pump anyway, might as well get the inverted. new water pump, reseal the PS, rebuild or replace the Alt etc. Might as well make it new everywhere so you have many trouble free miles. Thats thew way I do it anyway. Thanks for all the comments and experience. This will be my first V8 into a Bronco/Ranger so experience in the form of " this is what I did " is always helpful.

that's perdy! but i seem to remember that the fuel pump was on the passenger side on the 302... wasn't it? or was that the 350's i was working on in highschool that's coming back to me?

i know i took the fuel pump out of a lincoln continental with a 302, and replaced it with one from a 72 ranchero, but don't really recall which side...

anyways, what ratio are those rockers? i'm gonna say.... 1.7?

you forgot to put push rods in, before you put the rockers in btw ;)

where are you putting the oil filter? i see the relocation setup there

Weez . . you don't remember what side of a Ford SB engine the fuel pump is on, but you are going to tell me I forgot the pushrods?? LOL Geez, I know what I'm doing here, you can rest easy. Also, there is no way you can tell the difference between a 1.6 and 1.7 rocker by looking at it, much less over the net. They are 1.72 rockers, but that was just a lucky guess. I'm building the engine for maximum efficency, maximum MPGs. Since you like to guess at things . . tell me what intake I have used?

it was an educated guess... you said you were going for efficiency, so i doubt you put a different cam in it, however, opening the valves wider would increase efficiency, based on the fact that the mustang 5L ho motor came stock with 1.6's and you upgraded to roller rockers, i would figure you wouldn't go with the same 1.6 in a roller setting, and would probably go with the 1.7's (the most common upgrade rockers for the 5L HO)

all of the ford motors i've had have had electric fuel pumps, except for my torino, which never needed ANY work... the only thing i had to put into it was washerfluid, gas, and a starter...

An aluminum 2 barrel intake and a jetted 2100 carb?

What did I win? :icon_bounceblue: :D:D

Looks good. Blue is the best color. :icon_thumby:

Well yes, you made a good guesstimation. Roller rockers is a good way to remove some internal friction and why not the extra lift??? Plus, easier on the vales and guides.
OK, so I'll give you a fighting chance on the intake, here's an updated pic. Where is this intake from? Now we'll see how much of a Ford guy you guy(s) are :headbang:

I must not be much of a Ford guy because I don't see an intake.
