Yes, the first year of the 5.0 H.O. engine ( could have been a Capri as well, not only a Mustang GT ). I had an 82 Capri RS, got it in '83. It ran real nice. I turned a 15.7 ET on the stock TRX wheels and tires. They only had a 3 speed OD trans ( 4 speed if you will but not really) . . but they ran pretty good, single exhaust and all. But at least performance was on it way back. And the intake was a decent piece too for a 2V. It is a medium rise design, aluminum and I think it will be a good choice for my goal; we'll see.

Then don't post Weez, I'm not here for your entertainment obviously. Then don't bother with me, OK? And if no one else cars, it will go away. If someone does like to have their mind stimulated and show their Ford prowness, then they are welcome to guess. I like the game, but I'm not your Patsy Weez , get it?

woah! hold on here, i don't know why you're acting like a dick, my point was many people have asked you several times where the intake is from for the past 2 days now... i never said you were here for my entertainment, i don't really appreciate you putting words in my mouth... i am interested in your build, which is why i posted in the first place... i would suggest you not be such a prick over someone wanting to know the answer to what you're putting into your motor

Well you are obviously the younger person here. You don't realize you were out of place to make such a comment. Like a TV show, you don't like it, don't watch it. Don't try telling me what I can post and not post .Obviously someone else didn't feel your way . . imagine that.

Got it, you're a dick, have fun with your build

Do you have a target MPG that you would like to reach, and if so, what is it?

.

Hang in there Pete, lot's of info out there most people have no idea of. Seems like I missed the late 70-2005 with the Mustangs, sure happy now! Ever seen a manifold like this before, after market but for a Ford.

mac wasn't that from holley in the late 70's call a fuel mizer or something along those lines?

and pete I had an 82 gt but I switched to a performer with a 600 holley and picked up 3 mpg. I don't know if it was because the 2 barrel had bigger venturies to run on when cruising than the 600 or if the intake was a better design but it happened.the 2 barrel ran like a top as well.
with the mustang and the 2 barrel on the highway I was getting about 17 and with the 4 barrel I was getting about 20.
3.08 rear gears and 245 60 14 bfg tires all the way around.
I sure do miss that car it was one of my favorite cars.

Yes, as far as that manifold, I have seen it. Unfortunately as a performance piece, it wasn't good. I know nothing of it as a MPG piece though.
I always am happy when I can get 20 mpg, so thats my target. I realize I won't get that around town, I'm realistic. Also, I don't have an OD . . so I think 20 will be a great accomplishment. I also believe for me to get that, I may have to switch gears. I do some traveling every month and would love to take the BII sometimes, so highway mileage is a goal.
I don't remember what my '82 RS got in MPGs, I'm sorry to say. It was good. However, I have a heavily modified '82 GT now. It runs 12.8s. When the engine had less that 100 miles on it, I took it to Indy for the SAAC convention. I got 24 mpgs running about 65-75 MPH. I was tickled that an engine that had that much performance could do that well. However, that is with a T5 and 3.55s.
I have an HO engine I'll be putting in a Fairmont soon. Just for grins and giggles I'm going to run a Quadrajunk on it to see what kind of MPGs I can get. I'm running the stock HO roller cam with 1.72s, some slightly ported E7s and headers, so mostly stock. I'm curious to see how the tiny primaries work for me around town and such. My heads on the BII engine are also ported E7s BTW.

Thanks for the neutral rep Pete!

That will be doing pretty good with a brick of a BII and no OD for sure. I am hoping for 15, which will be an improvement over my 2.8...

On the plus side if you want higher gearing Ford was really happy about sticking 3.27's in Explorers.

3.27s wouldn't be a big enough difference. I set up gears. I have lots of 2.73s and 3.08s around. Although I would need a matching gearset for the front. My 2.8 got about 17 mpgs . . I always said I could match that with a V8. I was very displeased with the 2.8. And on a side note . . our local kid just can't keep himself shut can he?? Kids . . .

Damn Pete I'm starting to agree with Weezl now. You are being a Dick. Talking about the youth of today... You were the youth of yesterday, now grow up and start acting like it.

Now back on thread. I wish my 2.8L got 17 MPG. I got more like 10-13 before it was rebuilt. Didn't have it on the road long enough before it was totaled to know if the gas mileage changed. Of course your 2.8 was probably stock, mine as you can read in my sig wasn't. Even with the bad gas mileage I was very pleased with my 2.8, but yours is a 4x4 BII and mine was in a 2wd ranger, little weight difference there. I think I would be even more happy with it if I put the double pumper back on it, which I may do after I put it into the new body.

Josh, I'm done with you too kiddo. Its not about when you were a kid, but learning how to act and the correct decorum to use. Not everyone learns and grows up correctly, its not a matter of age.

Which you've obviously never done! At least as it pertains to the internet and message boards.

Not everyone learns and grows up correctly, its not a matter of age.

That's definitely not an argument I would have come back with, getting defensive like that basically admits guilt. Yes, I agree that not everyone learns and grows up correctly. I can not however agree that it has nothing to do with age. Prior to one's early twenties, yeah sure, you're to busy trying to fit in your peers, and being rebellious against your parents, that you don't care. After you get out into the world, which most do by the time they turn twenty, there is really no excuse to not start growing up. At that point you are around others older and more mature than you, you should start acting the same, whether you realize you are doing it or not. So by the time you are in your late twenties you should be maturing or "growing up", by the time you're in your late thirties you shouldn't be acting like an eighteen year old, even if it is just on a web forum. If you're not doing it then it's because of your own ignorance and stubbornness.

While I'm at it please try to avoid calling anyone a "kiddo", sounds like you're trying to scold me (which I'm sure you are). Might work in person on your kids, but it online it does nothing aside from make you look stupid and shows your age. About the only time that kiddo works online is if you're being sarcastic in the posting, which you obviously are not.

Maybe instead of this post and my last post I could have summed it up with this:
. . the youth of today and why we are going to hell . . . .
. . the adults of today and why we are already there . . . .

Now can we please drop this shit and learn a little more about your build?
