89 ranger SAS build

Swap to 20W-50 oil til you find another motor/donor...
SVT

Thats what he has in the engine now.

might get some additives for it tomorrow and see what happens. Have to drain the oil/gas mixture first.
Just checked the compression after work today, it's down to about 45psi. Wish I had the tools to see how much cylinder leakage its getting, would be interesting to know.

Tomorrow I am going to the Take-a-Part to see about another 2.3 They only want $129 for it. Might just go that route for now. I could swap the motors in a few hours if needed.

Also going to go look at this tomorrow. A 94, with 90k miles $1800

Which take-a-part is it, I only know of 3 J/Y's and really only go to the one and if they dont have what I need then its off to the next. But for that price for an engine, I would do it. I cant say for sure that there is gas in your oil but seeing how the pressure is down in that cylinder that much, I would bet there could easily be gas in the oil. Your dip stick should tell you that.

there is gas in the oil. I can smell it on the dipstick.
The take a part is a newer place here in fort wayne that opened last year.

May have to look into that place then. For that kind of price for an enigne I wonder how much a 4.0 would be if they had one (and tranny and what not) or an 8.8 rear end.

Before you do pull the engine, take her on the highway and throw a rod out the side, may as well go out with a bang, its what I would do.

Looked at that explorer. What a piece. Has 199k miles not 99k. Burns oil, whole transmission and engine covered in crud. Had a slight ticking at startup.

Guess I just keep looking.

Tomorrow I am going to look at a 93 ranger 2wd 4.0 5sp with 180k miles for $2000

if ya get a jeep at least you will allready have the spring's and long arm's.
however i had jeep once and it burned when i ould pee, doc said it had something to do with the "JEEP THING". ever since i got the fozda the burnin stopped.

yeah that damn jeep thing. Lol
i have always liked the cherokee but i also like my truck. With all the work i have done to my truck, i hate to get rid of it. But if i did end up getting a cherokee i would still keep my ranger. i got it for free and have had it for 8 years.

Just bought a new truck today. That 93 ranger 4.0 5sp. Going to go pick it up tonight.

So what should I do with my 89? I will be pulling the good parts off it like the front axle, springs, and transfer case.

throw the 35 under it and sell it, spend the money you get to build the new truck. of course.

The new truck is 2wd. I was thinking of just parting it out and scraping the rest. The only thing good on it is the cab and transmission. Bed is shot.

Anyone need any parts off it?

Here are some pics of the truck. For some reason the pictures make it look blue when it is green, must be the lighting.

And here is the only rust on the whole truck. No biggy.

throw your d30 under it??

throw your d30 under it??

That is already planned out. Going to swap D30 and rear leafs. Going to use different front coils. something with less spring rate and make it sit a little lower than the 89. Getting tired of jumping into the truck. After a 12 hour day, i am tired and dont feel like jumping into it...

Question, should I use the 1350M or look for a 1354M?
