RaceRangers Build


I dunno LOL, cause I can use my v8, headers, engine mounts, rad, rearend,cab and bunch of parts that id be buying again to build 4wd prerunner since I want v8 prerunner.

But this is Raceranger thread so i wont go into to much on that
His truck IMO with v8 FI 5spd would be wicked

V8 was best thing Ive done

Love your truck, and the pics jumping it at Huckfest. So much that im really considering building my own prerunner style 4wd truck and choppin my crawler up to use parts to do so.
Not sure if you thought of this since your now going 4.0 but an easy v8 swap that I think but might be wrong that you can stay smog legal is running Fuel injected 5.0 from 97 explorer and they did make some v8 explorer 2wd so you can use that tranny if you wanna be automatic, or you can swap in 2wd 5spd from 97-03 F150 that had 4.2 v6 same bolt pattern as 5.0 and mounts shifter close to factory location. The wiring with the swap is super simple on 95-97 Ranger cabs, my crawler is 97 Cab with 97 Explorer 5.0 engine if you have questions let me know. cause mine was auto now 5spd

Very cool, yeah i put the 4.0 in today actually. It's funny you say that though because I actually bought a 97 explorer with a 5.0 with plans of doing that. But it ended up being such a nice vehicle that I didn't want to cut it up so I sold it to my sister lol.

5.0 might happen later but for now this will work.

Are you going to try and set the motor back any, or are you putting it in the stock position?

I was thinking about it but I would have to re-do my tranny x-member and chop up the fire wall a bit. Ill save that headache for the other race truck with the V8.

To be honest im not sure..When I bought the truck it had that kit on it. I see them used on RDC no and again for cheap.
 
Went and got a set of D44 beams to start my equal length.

Started plugging in the 4.0 as well, because we are goin crazy with the other truck I decided to tie the stock core support into the engine cage to hold up the lights and what not, makes it a little more simple.

Keep posting up im going to be starting on my build soon and what your doing is basically exactly what i want to do to my truck the only difference is my truck is black. Looks real good so far!
 
Still have to do the tube work in the engine bay but the motor is almost ready to start. Should be mobile here soon.

So why did you flip your shackle hangers up side down on your rear suspension? Is that for stability?
 
IIRC, mainly for travel. A lot of people run the Belltech 6400 extended shackles for more movement without using lift blocks, and the desert guys also flip stockers it for stability, lower center of gravity, and some other stuff I just can't keep up with.
