a little more front work.
here's what i meant about having a crossmember with tabs on it to mount the front of the arms.
with the arms bolted on.the rectangular crossmember was not needed anymore, and would be in the way of the rad anyway(yes,i can fit one in here!)so i cut it out.
now for the interesting part...the rear pivot on these arms lands very close to the engine block-and right in front of the engine mount location.
so my plan is to actually mount them to the engine.the bolt holes behind the stud are the engine mount holes.i'll put a plate here, and weld the tube from the bmw to that so they have the proper taper to lock the stud in place.
the hole in the middle of this pic is the sleeve for the control arm pivot on the bmw crossmember.i'll use a holesaw on each side to free them from this so they can go to their new home.
now that the suspension arms will be using the engine mount locations,i need a new place to mount the engine from.
it has these holes on both sides at the front of the block,so i think this is a good spot to mount the motor from.accessory drives could get a little tight.oh,well.
