Also have you ever tried the gallon paint at the parts store that don't need any mixing, just pour it in your gun and spray that is for car/trucks ????

What is going on with your Truck?
Nah I haven't used any of that kind of paint.. The only kind I use is PPG or Rubber Seal.. I have also sprayed Dupont, RM, Sikkens, and Napa's Paint (Sherwin Williams) in my time... Personally I wouldn't trust that stuff to last very long... But being an Ex Pro painter I guess I am bias... I never really trusted Rubber Seal until I saw a car I painted 4 years after and it still looked like the day I rolled it out the booth.. And it was an outside car!!

I didn't mean to thread jack, but I haven't the foggest idea what is wrong with mine, it misses when I pull out from a dead stop, and it is hard to start, I have replaced plugs, wires, cap and rotor, coil, frp, and had the injectors checked, replaced the injector seals, and it isn't putting out any codes, the cel isn't coming on (it does work), the guys at the auto part store don't know what else I can replace, I don't think the o2 would make it hard to start, or atleast that is what I was told.

No such thing as a thread jack when we are all talking about Rangers. It's helping a Brother out!!. In my oppinon sounds like it is weak fuel pressure.. when was the last time the fuel Filter was changed? I don't think the o2 would cause a hard start either.. Have you changed the pump? I worked on a Dodge neon once had the exact same issue you are describing.. Fuel pump was the fix.

I forgot I also put in a new fuel pump as I thought that might have been the problem, of course I haven't changed the inline fuel filter yet. guess that is next. I compleatly forgot all about the fuel filter truth be told. I guess it's one of those out of site, out of mind things.

LOL, I already did that, I love Seafoam, I used it on my aunt's 98 ranger that never had the transfluid changed and with 148k in miles, never had the plugs changed, I went over board on seafoaming it, I didn't mean to, it just happened, I let a whole can be sucked up through a vacume line and also a full can in a half full tank of gas, it took it a hour to stop smoking, but it up'ed the fuel milage by 2 mpg, she was happier then a pig in mud, two weeks later i changed her plugs, and got another 2 mpg.

Its your cat, I'd almost put money on it. It probably dosent have quite the same power as before, and only likes to idle along? Unbolt the exhaust before the cat, and see what happens. If it revs sluggish, its a good idea that there is a restriction somewhere. If you cant easily pull the exhaust off before the cat, try pulling o2's( if there are any before the cat) out, and see if it changes a little.


Mulit, i have some ideas for you, but busy at work, and dont have any more time after replying to robert.

Ok It has to be the FPR. IK just drove it about 3 miles no vac line to the reg and it ran the exact same... Oh yeah I pluged the Vac line so it didn't leak.
Goint to the part tomorrow!!!! I'll post up if it fixed or not..

So I pulled the Reg back off. took a ball peen hammer and tapped it.. Crap what looked like sand came out of the Vac... And Rust looking crud came out the gas out side.. This has got to be the problem.

Picked up the Fuel Regulator... Inspecting the new one I came up with the same thing as the old one.. the only difference is it's clean on the inside.
It's going to drive me crazy until I get home and install it to see what it does.

I watch a program on TV that was sponsored by Seafoam, and they said on it to use a 3rd in a vac. line and the rest in the tank , that was what I was going to do, but the vac line I pulled sucked it up so fast that I didnt have time to pull it out before the can was empty.

I also thought I screwed her truck up, but after taking it down the road awhile it cleared up and ran a bunch better.

have you ever tryed it in the oil ??? I was thinking about useing about a 3rd can in the oil when I was close to the time to have the oil changed.

I didnt get time last night to reply, but i was going to tell you that the opperation of the fpr sounds correct. I belive the way that they are setup is, is under vac, the fpr is off, and as you rev, and vac is reduced, the fpr opens up, and adds pressure and fuel into the loop.

The best way to explain would be on an older carborated car. Take a car with a big vacume leak, and it runs rough at idle, and prob smokes, and is running rich. But take it up the road, and hold it wide open, it starts to clean up and run right (better). Reason being, its finnaly using enough fuel to catch up, and clean itself out. The same basic idea (I belive) happens in an efi motor. I know the way the egr valves work the same way too. With full vacume, the valve is close, and not allowing gasses through, and with it open (no vac) it is letting exhaust back into the intake.

Lol, out of time for a few mins, ill get to the ideas later. Un-fortunatly unless the fpr was just running sluggish with that stuff in it, it prob wont fix your issue. Have you checked the fuel filter itself??
