Alright Guys, Heres the Plan

I will say this once, and once only, and I am not trying to intentionally hurt your feelings. You do NOT have the capability to section a frame, replace it with c-channel, and have a road worthy vehicle. Please for the sake of others on the road. Perhaps someday, once you have lots of experience yes, but right now, no.

Save your money, get your license, and find something cheap and road worthy. Its not worth your effort even considering the amount of work that truck needs.

it sucks to hear but nathans VERY right (as usual) but it would be your best bet to find a good cheap DD and just keep collecting parts for the ranger to put together some day

If you cannot answer the questions you are asking, this further proves my point. Anyone capable of replacing a section of frame, should'nt have to ask such questions.

Okay, but this is a farm truck :icon_confused:

EDIT: If I were to drive it in its current condition, ONE wrong bump, and the driver's side rear shackle mount breaks off the frame.

and something else i forgot to mention. when you decide to weld a peice in the frame, make sure you weld it on an angle, not straight up and down

yeah, I knew that, I was gonna use the bansaw we use in metalshop to cut the angles out, either than, or a torch, most likely the saw

you know, even if you do replace the rear section of the frame, you still have to remount the rear axle, replace important crossmembers, the gas tank, mounting holes for the bed, shocks, etc. just find a new truck or a new frame. if youre gonna do it, do it the right way the first time. i realize this costs money, but you gotta pay to play just like the rest of us do.

I did, and you all shot it down, the parts truck with solid frame and body thats whole for $350

then just save your money for a new truck? some times vehicles are just too far gone to be worth the effort.

I need one before I go to college, I can ride the bus for high school, I just need one for college.

Even if its a freaking toyota, I need a vehicle lol

if i recall correctly, the main thing that shot it down was that you didn't have $350.

Come on man, I dunno the entire history of all of this, but why can't you make any money. I realize a decent job may be somewhat difficult to find, but not impossible. I was mowing yards when I was 12, and I still do on the side. It makes good non-taxed cash. If you're legs are broken disregard my comment, but even a one armed man can cut grass.

Sorry kip, but I have to agree with everyone else.

I'm not trying to sound like an ass, but if you'd spend half as much time looking for a job as you do looking for truck's you'd be in good shape.

I know it sucks not having your license, I had the same problem when I was a kid. So I taught myself how to build computers and ran my own business out of my house. Eventually I did get my license and a cheap car, and a real job. Not everything in life's easy, mate. It's a lot of work.

Hang in there bud, things will work out.

this is how i bought my first car-i used to push a mower all over the neiborhood, knocking on doors.pretty soon i had regular customers that i would cut their grass twice a week,at the end of the summer i bought a '70 pontiac catalina.it was a good car,too bad i was a dumb kid and destroyed it.

I have to agree with everyone here. I'm also not trying to sound like an ass or put you down but you need more practice welding and fabbing before trying something like this. Even so, that thing is in rough, rough shape and may or may not be worth it. Especially w/ that frame.

That truck for $350 would take more money to get it legal than it would to just buy something already road legal. Plus you need the money to do it.
You have to save and get something legal and running. Gotta work for what you want, you know? We've all had to do this.
There are plenty of cars (and trucks!) out there under a grand. Even decent running Rangers and BIIs! What you need is something that'll get you from Point A and Point B. That's whats really important right now IMHO.

Again, not trying to sound like a jerk, just helping you out man.
