I am going to see about doing my own personal fixup on the One Eye'd Beast, but I am gonna need to use C-Channel, any ideas on prices and types or sizes I should use?

Also how I should use them.

Note that the bed is staying, and I can get all parts worked on and finished in my school's metalshop.

(plasma cutters, forge, MIG, TIG, Stick, bending, grinders, presses, you name it).

you know the frame isnt one peice of straight steel right, lots of bends

since I only need the back 5', it wont be too bad
I can cut it to the rough amount, as long as the mounts are all in the same places.

Anybody done c-channel repair work?

Yup, and if I cannot successfully weld this, I got 2 backups, Jason, and my welding instructor

why dont u cut the rusted 5 ft, cut or do a custom bed and call it done?

unless your very good an got lots of practice id get a trained important dude to weld it

Well, we have a local weld shop here, I can talk to the guy, but the cost will be around $100 or more either way, so yeah....

I was hoping to know what size c-channel to use, but it to the right size, weld them together using the MIG at school, and then plan a day to get my truck to the school for a week and work on welding it to the frame.

I will say this once, and once only, and I am not trying to intentionally hurt your feelings. You do NOT have the capability to section a frame, replace it with c-channel, and have a road worthy vehicle. Please for the sake of others on the road. Perhaps someday, once you have lots of experience yes, but right now, no.

Save your money, get your license, and find something cheap and road worthy. Its not worth your effort even considering the amount of work that truck needs.

If you cannot answer the questions you are asking, this further proves my point. Anyone capable of replacing a section of frame, should'nt have to ask such questions.
