Kyle M's Ranger Rebuild

here is what you may want to consider......

if you look closely you will see that they have used 2 shackles....one sits flush up against the frame under normal circumstances....but when you need the extra droop travel....ya have it in spades....

l8r, John

Yeah, that could be another option! Pretty neat idea

They're actually called revolver shackles, super popular with the Suzuki guys. And to answer your question, nothing really, but some use a brace on the back side to keep them from going more than parallel with the second shackle.

That's a "missing link" Bad idea, IMO.

Stick to a single shackle and leaf spring on each side. You'll see poor performance out of that dual shackle setup.

No, not yet. Got any ideas?

i used to run a second rear caliper on my streetbike for stunts, and of course the bleeder was upside down, so what i used to do is unbolt the caliper, position it so the bleeder was in the right position, bleed it really good, then put it back, never had any problems

I think you do want to lower it, or you won't be able to get out of the garage door. :)

i like staying with longer shackles leaf springs get longer when they flex and if u have a short shackle they cant flex. maybe do a long shackle with no lift block or even spring under axle that way u get good flew but still a low hight

Seems like that would make a lot of racket going down any bumpy road at any speed above a crawl.

I was thinking if I had to I could do something like that. I am pretty sure I must have the backing plates that the calipers mount to mixed up.

Nahh.....just lower the air pressure in the tires:icon_twisted:

Getting lots of work done so far this weekend, I am determined to get the suspension done, cab mounted and the front clip on. SO far I have all my shock hoops remade, mounted the way I like them, the cross support bar made and it looks sweet! Then I also have the rear cab mount/crossmember combo made. Just have to run to the store and get some hardware to bolt the cab down.

Pictures later when I get batteries!

Pictures.....

Shock hoops and brace

Close to the master cylinder, but it should work....hope I don't ever have to remove it, should be fun

Started placing the front sheetmetal on so I could put the hoot on to check clearance....

Hood is really close, but will be fine

Rear cab mounts and crossmember. 2x3 .250 wall tube. It is one piece, cut holes in the frame and pushed it thru. I will box the frame here for extra support

Took the last stock crossmeber out replaced with some 1.375, .125 wall DOM. Gonna add another crossbar and make some sort of shock mount on it.

made a cart for my welder....

Thats all for now, thanks for looking!

Were you a welder/fabricator:icon_welder: at some point in your life? Because your work is ingenious!! :icon_thumby:

That body mount/crossmember deal is awesome!! And with a 1/4" wall, it'll never rust out and probably never bend either.

Keep up the awesomeness!!! :icon_bounceblue:

Really digging that cab mount crossmember Kyle, she's crawly back to life. You can almost see it as a truck now lol.
