what i think i am going to do is measure the distance from tire to wheel well in rear and same in the front.... subtract them then measure my coil and add the difference from rear to back... then that should tell me what lenght i shoud need....
in order to know what length of coil you need.... you need to know the spring rate of the coil you intend to use. not that it will help you. if you went 8.5" in the back then you are looking at 10"+ in the front to level it out........ and you just are not going to get that with 6" lift bracketry. if you stuff 9"+ lift coils in there with only a 6" bracket then you will have dangerous steering problem. you either need to take some rear spring out to lower the back or find some 8" lift brackets for the front. then you will still need to address your F'ed up steering geometry (but chances are you prolly need to do that anyways)
thanks for the info i really do not want to take any part of my lift out..... i know it might be the easy way but i would really like the front up just that few more inches
you are going to need to go straight axle. I can think of ways to do what you are wanting to do but they all end in major surgery (for the truck and, if not done right, for you).
just what are you trying to achieve with your lift? you can easily clear 35"s with 6" of lift and 6" flared fenders.
Agreed, to get that much lift you may as well bite the bullet and go straightaxle. The TTB's steering setup is just not practical to deal with once you're above a certain amount of lift.
well u guys talked me into it i am going with a sas..... i am trading my 460 for a complete front end... do u guys have any pointers B4 i dive into this one ?.....
You need to determine what axle will hold up to what your going to be doing with your truck. Tech library here is very helpful with info. Assuming it has a D35 due to the year, I wouldnt go lower then that, a D44 might be your starting point to look into.
well i have never done this before and i have read my fair share of info on this.... the only thing i know about this axle as of right now is that it is a D44 out of a B1.... but now that is has been said im back to my first question WILL JEEP SPRINGS FIT..... or should i stick with reg lift coils
got more info for u guys....the axle is out of a early bronco with a d44. from what i heard it is about the same with as the ttb.... and should b an easy swap....still looking for any pointers and tips..also what gears was a comon grear for that axle....
