I have an 03 Ranger with the 3.0 and it has the 5R55E transmission(code D).It has 165k miles and is acting up/slipping.Can the bands be adjusted on this one and if so what are the specs?I found adjustment info on the bands of other models in the tech section of this site but none were listed for my trans.I know some of the newer ones are not adjustable.Any help is greatly appreciated.

There is still a band adustment for that transmission, but I don't think it will help you with the slipping. If you decide to adjust them do so to 10 inch pounds and tighten the jam nut back up.

That is incorrect and will burn up the bands!!!!!!!!!!!! After tightening the adjustment bolt to 10 foot lbs OR 120 inch Lbs then you back out the adjuster 1 1/2 turns THEN while holding the adjuster tighten the jam nut.

Wrong again with those specs.....

Band adjustment:

Intermediate band: Tighten to 10ft lbs. Back off 2 turns. Tighten locknut to 35-45 ft lbs

Front band: Tighten to 10 ft lbs. Back off 2 turns. Tighten locknut to 35-45 ft lbs.

:icon_surprised::icon_surprised::icon_surprised: 120 inch pounds??????? You would snap the adjuster off or strip the case out??

120 IN LBSis equal to 10FT LBS... Go see any online conversion chart.............
Setting the band adjustment at 1 1/2 turns gives a little better shift feel with out any other problems.. I have been setting bands like this for years.
