still no luck, ideas?

k so no luck on the fuel thinger between air box and fire wall. all there is is
a.alternater harness
b. 2 random wire ends with plugs and some sort of grease stuff inside.
i followed the harness for the alternater to the main harness, all the way to the tfi with no issues with wire. all looks good. bought a new fuel filter. gonna put it in tomorrow or monday. see if that helps. gonna pull the shifter boot also and see what i can see. forgot to look near the pedal. does anyone know where the neutral senser is???

ok so i think i have an idea as to the nuetral safety thinger.
this plug when un plugged does nothing to my idle. its quite loose because its not the right plug for my tranny. i might still have access to my old tranny to take the thinger out of that one or i can get the new trucks plug and wire it in. dunno which is the better idea. i cant solder so it would be a splice and heat-shrink job which is normally fine unless the amount of resistance on the wire effects the reading. SO im gonna try figure something out tomorrow, when the scrap yard is open, and the school i donated my broked tranny too. ugh. damn rangers

bump! does anyone know if this is nuetral sensing curcuit? or what it is?
found this on another forum!
"There should be two electrical connections on top of the tranny - one for reverse lights the other for the Neutral Safety Switch."
note:my backup lights dont work!!!
doh! perhaps the one on top of the tranny if for neutral safety switch!!!

My dads has a working neutral saftey switch but his is attached to the clutch pedal...mine doesn't work I can start it in gear.

If your back up lights dont work then it isnt plugged in the right spot, plug is loose or the tranny has a bad switch. Can you start your truck in gear, I know its bad on parts and hard on the starter to move the whole truck, if so then the neutral safty switch is bad or not plugged in.

The fuel relay.eec and ac (if u have it)r kind of tucked behind fuse box. as for starting if mine dont start i always push in my shrader valve on fuel rail checking for gas psi. then look at spark so possibly your coil is going bad colder wetter getting better connection IDK.( less resistance)

Do they have craiglist up there I was able to get a wiring harness and alternator with wiring harness for $30 course it was a two hour drive one way but i was fed up with mine. Came from a running motor.
the harness was so messed up from PO(previous owners trying to fix) taken all the nice cable wraps off looked like a telephone junction box(couldnt wrap my head around it).

Pretty sure that is the neutral switch have a problem with mine looked everywhere!! finally looked it up on rockauto.com showed picture that gave me idea where to look.Mine is on side of tranny havent traced wires yet (was rereading your thread.)
they had hooked up a remote start so they had to bypass it or something. which in my search for knowledge puts the computer or somthing in a open loop.
I had for got too hook up o2 censor well that should have thrown a code but i got nothing on the CEL.
not really sure what I am trying to say!!!!

Of course my o2 sensoe plug fried cause i was playing with motor running at night had a huge vacumn leak which sucked in more air so computer put more gas in which made my y-pipe red **** hot. grr grr (noticed the glow):black_eye: for being so stupid
ok the small grease fire...

I cant make sense of this should erase and rewrite but its too late at nite

lol i totally get it. your post made no sense, but i got a bit. i am beggining to think this is just the reverse lights sensor cause it also has a senser farther up connected to the same wiring harness. hopefully the pics will explain. (tomorrow)

Have you checked the resistance of the coolant temp sensor? If it is telling the computer that the coolant is -20 deg when it is 20 deg it will have a hard start problem. Might explain why your cold start is better now that the weather is getting colder. The sensors resistance should be about 32000 ohms at 20 deg and around 2000 ohms at operating temp.

where's this sensor?
and i gonna guess its the starter relay goin. and im gonna change it. soon. it left me stranded the other day. it kept turning over once, the stop, then crank, then stop. its like the battery wasn't making connection and kept clicking off and on. it might have something to do with tfi, so im gonna change that i have a spare
note: i left the truck sit, and after a few hours (like 8) i went back to it and it fired right up. so i dunno

ok tfi and clutch fan on order, probably gonna try and get too a wrecker saturday
and get an ignition, perhaps i should look into getting an upgraded coil, like msd or somethin...
but then i'll need better wires and plugs. etc

this is the plug that melted. i dunno what it is but i tied it up and my truck is still running. i dont really wanna re-wire it but im probably gonna have to. thats not gonna be fun.
fortunately i bought these:

i dunno which it is yet but i'll figure it out quick enough. it was 32 celcious last week sunny and hot, and today it was -2celcius and snowing. what gay weather

Sounds like your battery is getting weak and its fighting the compression of the pistons. I would try to get your battery checked, but not by a volt meter but a battery tester.

so if anyone wants to watch this and tell me if they think they know whats causin the pause before it turns over by all means

have you pulled and checked the spark plugs....how wet are they??

sounds like you're flooding out...leaking injectors possibly? bad spark plugs

what kind of compression are you getting? sorry if this is a repeat

can't really tell in the video...does it start and stall?? (get the impression that it isn't)... or are you shutting it off? or is the starter kicking out...almost start?

as for the pause/hesitation when 1st turning it over.... not in any order of priority
not getting enough voltage to the starter. bad ground/cable
too much fluid in a cylinder or 2 you pick the fluid, gas or coolant...not a super bunch mind you
timing is off
bushings in the starter are about shot after viewing this again....leaning towards this

could be starter. could be lots of things. i havent checked the plugs lately. no it doesn't stall. once it starts it runs as normal
maybe im stupid but im gonna put prolly 600k on it this weekend. good idea ill say.

see how she holds up, then treat her to some new parts
