3" Suspension and 3" Body Lift 2004 4x4 Edge

fill me in on the horn how much was it to build and howd u do it

The horn cost me about $500 and then all the extra parts I needed to mount them was about $50. They're pretty strong sounding though.

The beef up parts only include the shocks that I had to modify in order to gain the height with the torsion keys. I had Rancho shocks, but I backed out of the driveway and the cv boots were scraping all over the shocks and about to blow the shocks. I tried intentionally denting the shocks, but in the end, I used a Monroe stock replacement shock and I fabbed up custom extensions that provide more strength than the extentions sold on the market.

I just wanted to add real quick -- 15" wheels will always look better than 16", end of story. :icon_thumby:

No way. Bigger is ALWAYS better when it comes to wheels imo.

Bigger is always better? Are you going to put 26's on your truck?:annoyed:

looks slick. curious as to what ur price range was. im 17 and have a 2001 xlt 4x4. i dont have too much $ but i been lookin at 3-4" suspension lifts, light bars and kits, as well as tires and wheels. so far i just have slightly larger then stock tires

Bodylift it and crank the bars some...steer clear of those truxx keys please...

Best suggestion: CRAIGSLIST!!! Wheels and tires for DIRTE CHEAP! And yes, I said Dirte as in Joe Dirte. haha. Got my current 75% tread 35x12.50 KM1's for $300. The wheels I've got can be had on Craigslist for about $100 a set.

Sorry the quote message thing isn't working so I'll go in order...

funkingonutz, read my last post, the shocks are my modified parts. I had to give everyone something to think about so I said there were a few more "beefed up parts". I understand if if people are mad now, but it was just a joke. SHOCKS are the only custom front end part.

Yes, I do have gap guards. I went to the rubber and gasket warehouse where I live and got a role of 1/8" rubber. I wasn't going to pay for the Performance Accessories ones. I used stainless sheet metal screws in the rear (with fender washers) and those factory push connectors up front.

Toms994x4, no I'm not going to put 26's on my truck and I don't know why people on here take replies so literal on these forums. Wheels need to be proportional to the truck and the tire size. And I like the way 16's look on my truck personally.

redneck_rainey, I have about $6,000 (plus truck) in mine. As far as suspension goes, the body lift was about $200 and the keys/blocks were about $250. I would def. recomend the keys, but some people wouldn't touch them with a 29.5ft. pole. You will need some sort of other shocks and puller tool also despite what companies will tell you. I do all of my work so that saves a lot too. On the rangers, I find the best way to mount lights is drilled through the bumper. I've been criticized already, but I like my stock wheels with a 1.5" spacer on the front end. I'm very happy with my General Grabber's bc they have a 60k warranty and nice looking tread / sidewall. Hope this helps. Private message me if you have any other questions.

I totally agree with Fx4wannabe01 on craigslist. People unload stuff dirt cheap on there.

How do you quote message in reply anyone? Thanks

As for your truck, I like stock rims with bigger tires myself. I think it looks good. I like 16's aswell, but 15's are cheaper. As for the torsion keys, you will like them until you have to do ball joints and replace cv axles because they are shot. Do you plan on wheeling it at all? You have no down travel from your front suspension and all of the components on the front are going to wear at an accelerated rate.

I understand what your saying completely. The stuff will wear a little faster, but I made sure not to even come close to maxing the keys because I do want to retain some down travel. I plan on replacing thestock cv's with some high angle cv's at some point.

Good looking truck man, I am debating on getting those tires or Destination A/Ts...I'll know for sure after I get a 4 inch sus. lift or not, haha

I'm also looking for some "performance" in my 96 4.0....I've got exhaust so far, want to avoid an intake because I offroad alot, and unsure on what I'd need forSuperchip in a 96

Anyone else noticed this line from the ad;

NOTE! "SUPERCHARGER IS NOT INCLUDED"

Well I absolutely love my Grabbers. And I don't think that an intak would be a hazard offroad. Combined with the exhaust, the 4.0 takes well to the intake/exhaust setup. I looked on Superchips website and they say that they only go back to 1999. I think that's because you may not have a diagnostic port. I don't know though.

.......geeze...sorrrrrrry......lol still a nice truck...but i prefer the older ones with the I BEAMS!!!!

eh..me too! You bastards can get a 6" suspension lift damnit...AND you can make it taller. I wanna be about 3" taller than I am now. If I had a 97, I can be that EASILY and CHEAPLY. Bastards. I hate you all. HAHAHA.
