2008-2009 South American/Mexican Ranger new rear suspension arrangement

You missed the South American models. Those are my favorite by far.

They are largely the same as the ones sold in Mexico, but with an available 3.0 diesel, outboard shocks, nicer trim (Limited models are quite nice), and some other odds and ends.

Considering they are based on the same platform as North American trucks, it would be pretty easy for Ford to give us those upgrades too, but I guess they have their reasons not to. The Ranger seems to get much more attention in South and Central American markets.

My brother just bought a 2009 Ford Ranger XLT Crew Cab (4 dr.) here in Mexico, it just arrived to the dealer, it has not been delivered to him yet.

We drove to the dealer to take a look to it and I noticed that the rear shock absorbers are now located between the leafsprings and wheels, unlike the US model. Additionally, even though it is a 2 wheel drive model it has torsion bars at the front and it looks as tall as a 4 WD model.

I looked for some information on south american ranger forums on this rear suspension set-up and it seems it was an improvement done to the Rangers manufactured in Argentina (for sale in Mexico) starting on model year 2008, with the benefits of a better controlled rear axle, ride, etc.

In pacodiablo´s message there is a photo of the South American/Mexican (either 2008 or 2009) Ranger rear undercarriage, has anyone noticed how the rear shocks are located outside the leafsprings (pacodiablo mentioned the outboard shocks there). :icon_cheers:

i like the color but thats it... i hope it stays just a concept

the tai concept looks to much like a fuckin bowtie pos that was put in a dryer to shrink it

i want a quad cab helleven just the rear doors to build my own i might even have a line on a 2.5l powerstroke from england for it

My 79 F-150 was the same color! Overall it looks pretty good but don't like the plastic all around... :icon_cheers:
