Did a bit of research and apparently stainless is a horrible conductor of electricity... will probably just replace them with standard bolts... last ones have been there since '86 so probably fine :). I'm sure the stainless would be good enough but hey, it's super easy now and hard later...

So far tonight I pulled the boat shift lever so I could tap it since someone broke the threads off, I bought a fancy anodized knob. Was a pain in the rear, turns out the shifter rod is 1/2" stainless which did NOT want to be threaded... Then I changed the fuel filter, I think the old one was rusting out... Still so many things to do...

Yeah, stainless has some interesting properties. I still use it for ground bolts and stuff on vehicles and boats around here and just slobber some No-Alox around. Corrosion and rust are too big of a deal around here. I’ve watched the heads of zinc coated grade 8 bolts be eaten off by rust in 5-10 years. That’s for mostly half inch thread stuff. Smaller/lesser grades I’ve seen turn into a rust blob in as little as a winter or two. Older steel tends to hold up better than anything you can buy these days.

Drove the Snooperduty to western PA. Going to see the "Big Boy" tomorrow. Currently, dinner at a bowling alley in Johnstown.

Today I removed all the tree and branches etc from my yard, we had a huge storm here in NJ last weekend with winds in the 70s. My large $300 patio umbrella took a really big f...g hit from the storm, so today i had to cut it up into pieces and leave it out for recycle. Lesson learned, always close your umbrella at nite. Ya never know.

So far I cleaned up the camper bumper, I had wondered why it was squishy, turns out the steel is ventilated... the only thing I have with serious rust pits... put the surface conditioner to work first then the needle scaler, then surface conditioner again then rust converter... too windy tonight but the plan is to prime it then paint white, I have some of the fancy 3M sticky tape so if I feel up to it I might stick the rubber back on... I was going to use contact adhesive but I don't think there's enough surface area :)

Sharpened the blades on the Grasshopper and mowed the lawn.

Then I decided to gut the Cobra mass air housing and port it a tad, then sanded it smooth. For my speed density conversion. I think I'm going to weld the hole on top shut and grind the entire housing smooth and lightly polish it.

Got a new galaxy phone. I had a moto g 2026 and it sucked for anything but games or movies.

Also changed the oil in the ranger and trimmed the trees that were hanging so much that the wife was complaining about the branches rubbing the top of her jeep when driving down the driveway

Thursday I was voluntold that I was being moved to a different work center on Monday. They are a man down due to the employee having an accident at home and receiving severe burns on about half his body, no idea when or if hell return. Feel for the guy and hope he makes a good and speedy recovery. Anyway they need someone to fill in for him that is capable and experienced with the new (and terrible) management systems that we are transitioning to. Apparently my team is the most experienced (we were first to implement a month ago) and I'm the best qualified and capable candidate. Unfortunately, I feel like that is both blowing smoke and a completely accurate assessment at the same time.

That leads me to today. I was already planning to take Mo day off being my b-day. So told the boss I was taking Tuesday as well. When I got home Thursday I booked a reservation. Woke up this morning and hit the road to St. Augustine. Should be a 5ish hour drive, but detoured around some other sites in Florida to check them out for future camping spots, so was in the road most of the day. Tomorrow and Monday here. Tuesday I'll head back home and check out a few more spots on the way.

Setup an old phone to be used as a dashcam. I've gotta buy a mount, but it looks promising. Gonna try the Droid Dashcam app.

Breakfast at one of my favorite spots with Mrs. O and @Curious Hound who stayed over after watching the Big Boy steam train go thru my town this morning. He allowed that if he lived here he'd go there a lot and gain a lot of weight. Then bid him farewell and safe travels back to South Carolina.

Weeded the front garden and weed whacked the front of the house. The new plastic week whacker thingys I got are better than the string but still don't last real long and are also a PITA to change. Next I will simply try twisting two lengths of coat hanger to the head.

Discovered the beginnings of a wasp nest inside my yard barn when I got the weed whacker and also discovered that I was out of wasp & hornet spray. Took my recycling stuff (weeds, cans, bottles, paper, cardboard) to the recycling center and picked up wasp spray on my way home.

Will wash the vehicles tonight, it's too hot and sunny to do it now.

Not a good idea. I thought of the same thing but after a bit of research realized that long pointed objects coming loose at high speeds can leave you looking like a porcupine got you. There are pictures on the web if you care to do your own research. Apparently the metal will weaken after a number of hits on objects and eventually will break off.
