I have a little knowledge on working with acid. Never used it on metal but I’ve used it on concrete a bunch, lol. I don’t remember offhand how much baking soda we would use for a wash but it was a lot. We would slop it on the concrete, scrub it around a little, then rinse it off. Concrete being somewhat porous is probably a lot of why three washes or more is needed, but I have a suspicion that one wash may not be enough and agitation/scrubbing may be required.
Gotcha.

Ill just buy like.. 10lbs of baking soda next time I have the time & the weather is conducive to painting outside and add just enough water so it's essentially a thick slurry to soak everything in after another acid bath.. Scrub everything up real good.. hope for the best 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don’t think I’d go to the slurry point, you probably used enough baking soda, but I think I’d do a soak/scrub, rinse, then another soak/scrub in a fresh batch of baking soda and water and a final rinse.

More grass cutting and more metal fabrication.

work, work, work. but its the weekend and ironically that just means more work -thats co$ts me rather than pay$ me. Truck has quite a bit of treated lumber in it, for 3 separate projects, have a seat to change out after I (try) to clean it up some, may end up just vaccuming it after a baking soda treatment & then a seat cover. The original seat is in way worse condition, I put a seat cover on it but it doesn’t fit right & just hides the horrible condition its in. Not sure if I ever posted pictures of the seat or not, odd for a 90K truck to have a seat so bad, the replacement seat came out of a 94 F250 with 140K. its sat for about 15 years now, im surprised mice didn’t tear it up, they did set up shop in the glove box though. Any thoughts on what to try on my replacement seat that wont damage the fabric? There was mouse evidence on the seat but since being in my garage I dont smell anything, that could change of course once its back in a confined space. Heres some pictures, the ‘94 seat was red once upon a time.

And baking soda is good for your homemade electrolysis tank. A swimming pool and a 300 amp welding power source can do wonders! (No joke, someone did this for a frame off resto).

Worked on completing a little outhouse to store gardening tools and fertilizer, etc in. Got the tin on the sides and the roof today but it still needs some tin corner trim. I cut and "milled" some telephone poles to use for runners underneath it but I'll have to attach those later this week. After that I need to fit up the front door from my grandpas old house. A 150+ year old door.
Where I, and my family, come from that isn't what is stored in an outhouse... My dad had a great aunt in West Virginia that finally gave in and got a kitchen sink but never had any other indoor plumbing.
They are cuter then a 2.3
I usually ignore online errors anymore, but since that sentence more or less works either way I can't decide if you used the wrong "then" or if you left out a comma.

I had good luck with this stuff that was pretty cheap at Wal-Mart. I didn't noticeably have mice on/in my seats, but I had dirt, grease, and a lot of cigarette smoke in them. Thankfully my mice had pretty much stuck to the floors and inside the body behind the passenger rear seat. In fact, I found a desiccated pair in a nest on top of a can of tuna that expired in 2012 under the spare tire jack holder. I still have a bit of a smell when it sits in the sun with the windows up but it's a lot better than it was. I'm also not certain the smell is coming from the seats. https://www.turtlewax.com/products/...rpose-cleaner-car-seat-stain-remover-18-fl-oz

Here's a before and after of my driver's seat with one good cleaning using that stuff. The weird clean strip at the front of the dirty seat picture is where I was experimenting with dish soap, borax, and a lot more elbow grease than the spray required. The can says to let it dry, but my seats were so dirty that I had to wipe the foam off to keep the brown from redepositing. I've used it another time or two since this picture and gotten my seats cleaner still. In total I've used almost two cans just on the seats and seat belts.
