That is what I did

Then I brought it back because when they had it on a two post lift they didn't know the front diff dropped and the driveshaft rubbed. :fie:

Then when i swapped to a telescoping driveshaft I had to totally remake it because it did not fit at all. :annoyed:

Mine wraps around the bellhousing (added plus any ATF drippings from transmissions dribbled down the bell onto the exhaust for disposal) not the oil pan.

What oil pan is that? I am not sure my foxbody pan has enough room to do that. Does it heat the oil?
Its Foxbody dual sump. Pretty sure it was a Dorman: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/rnb-264-022/make/ford/model/mustang/year/1982

Never had any heats issues, I run conventional 5w-30 Valvoline and change it every 3K. Truck runs 195-200* on a hot day with AC cranked and single core rad. I dont have an oil temp sensor, but there is no signs sludge or goo in there and it typically looks almost new when I change it.

Yeah, I ended up with a rub point on my rear axle because they didn’t give me enough clearance. It’s been “massaged” already by the rear axle but once I get it back among the living so I can get it closer to my torch, I’m going to put the ol rosebud and ball peen to it so it’s got a little more clearance. At least until I see where things settle because I’m still figuring this all out with lowering a 4x4 as close to the limit as I can while still keeping something of a stock form. I dunno, things are still fluid. I’m semi-happy with the rear but I don’t know if I can match it in the front. I wouldn’t mind going even lower. But my fender liners and possibly the inner fender in the front is already problematic and I’m not sure where I’ll find my next limiting factor in the front beyond the upper control arms. It’s an experiment. I know what I’m trying to accomplish, I’ve been dreaming about it for 26+ years. I’ve been trying hard to get there without getting crazy but we are headed towards crazy at an alarming rate. Oh well. I was just trying not to dump that much effort into this when I have so much else to deal with. Time will tell. I was pretty happy with things so far so I’m trying to just tweak at this point instead of just breaking out the torch and welder and going to town. Of course I’m probably only one or two bad days away from saying F it and doing that….

I used the Explorer pan in both of my builds. Trying to be somewhat budget minded and all. :icon_rofl::icon_welder:

Just putting this here as another place to document the part numbers and some details. I ordered new front brake hoses the other day. And what I ordered were the GM 2500 series truck hoses mentioned in our tech article. Well, when you look at the pictures online, it looks like you could interchange them driver and passenger. That is NOT the case. And they are not labeled which hose goes on which side.

First, they come with a mounting bracket that you will most likely want to remove. It's a little bit tricky. I did it in a parking lot with my travel tools last August. Not easy. I did it today with a vice, a hammer and a chisel. Much easier, but still not fun. Maybe I should do a video when I get the other hose.

Second, the reason they don't interchange from one side to the other. Where the metal tube is welded to the square banjo fitting, the tube is offset to one side and protrudes past the flat side of the banjo fitting. This means that you can not flip it over and mount to either side. It will be cocked and never seal to the face of the caliper. The Z-bend in the metal tubing further complicates this. If you try to put the driver side on passenger or vice-versa, the hose will be pointed right at the knuckle where it will not fit.

So, I'm still waiting on the other hose. Ordered both together from WalMart. Same order. Must be coming from different warehouses. More photos and video when I get the hose I really need.

The offset that prevents swapping from side to side.

I should look up what I used on the Choptop for front brake hoses. I got stainless braided aftermarket something or other. They’re miles long, even with about 5” of suspension lift and long arms they’re longer than needed.

For the rear I use 1988 Bronco II hoses in my rigs that have stock to lifted, they are the longest hoses I’ve found. Well, the longest I’ve needed anyway. That’s what I have on the rear of the Choptop with 5” of lift and I would think they would be fine for at least 6” of lift.

From what I remember skyjacker had 6" lift lines that were the longest I could find at the time

That's what I originally had. I have enough wheel travel to stretch them out. So, I either need longer hoses or install limiting straps, which I have considered. These GM lines are a pretty good length. I haven't tested to see if my droop will stretch them.

Ultimately, I'd like to get end fittings and use -4AN steel braided hoses. I'm just not sure who the most reputable seller of custom brake parts is.

I believe Fragola makes brake hoses in various configurations, probably have to source from Summit or something. I have an old one of their catalogs floating around here, Fragola that is. Probably can request a catalog from them
