Can I tow with 1st gen ranger?

Yeah, manual rating is BS IMO, but it's the legal limit. I should probably swap in an automatic for my use. LOL

5r55E with custom controller and paddle shifters should be pretty fun.

Has anyone got any personal experience with a stage 1 or 2 clutch? I'm looking at SPEC clutches. I want to tow with the truck after I get the trans rebuilt, and SPEC claims "A SPEC Stage 2 Clutch will handle significantly more torque than stock without the "on-off" feel of true race clutches, blending driveability and the ability to hold lots of power perfectly. Perfect for Weekend Warriors. The SPEC Stage 2 Clutches are designed for all mild to moderately modified naturally aspirated and power added engines, but can be used with stock power levels without sacrificing driveability or excessive wear characteristics."

I'm a class-A CDL holder and most of my vehicles have been manual. I like the thought of a longer lasting clutch with a firmer grip, even if the towing capacity remains the same.

I'd e-mail them and ask what the actual numbers are. If the claim has any basis they had to have tested somehow. Right?

Quick discussion update, so would you guys NOT reccomend me getting a single axle camper , like a tear drop? Yes, i could do a popup and not worry about weight but im looking into something with a bathroom and kitchen inside + AC, so around 2500lb dry. Assuming DOT side of things are legal.

If this is possible, i will plan on doing modifications for towing comfort, better transmission, brakes, suspension, and higher rear end gear, right now its 3.08 but 3.73, 3.90 or 4.10s id like

If its above your tow rating the DOT side of things won't be legal.

Judging by Jim's tow guide posted earlier in this thread you will be over.

Your 2500 trailer is likely that empty. Put you in the drivers seat, water in the tank, food fuel etc and you will be over by quite a lot.

What kind of tear drop are you thinking that has a bathroom, kitchen and A/C?
