Will a standard 15" rim and full size tire fit in place of the compact spare on my '011 std cab 6'bed?

Terry

I'm pretty sure it will up to about a 30 inch tire. My 06 had a full size spare.

I think maybe @sgtsandman put a 31 inch tall tire in his factory carrier...

Yep, a 31" on a 15" rim will fit but only just fit when new. The crank will need a little help getting the tire to fully seat in the carrier.

Tnx Guys!

The old rim looks like it has the structural integrity of a ritz cracker and the 15yr tire not so hot either. Obtw is there any maintenance to do on the lift mechanism?

It wouldn't hurt to lube it with something. I hit the frame with fluid film at least every fall and try to give everything above the support a good dousing while the spare is down for a 5 tire rotation. The biggest thing is to operate the mechanism every once in a while. Most people don't even think about the thing until they need the spare and it's rust locked solid.
