I was rebuilding the rear Drums on my 1991 ford ranger when I tried to get my parking brake to work. In the process of doing this i discovered that my cables are shot and that I need new ones. Looking at my mechanisim I feel like I have some missing parts possibly. Would anyone have a diagram of the whole parking brake assembly that I can use to confirm?. Here is a photo of the assembly

That looks correct to me, if memory serves that lower part that's threaded is the end of the one cable that comes through the back of that bracket, right? It's kinda convoluted but it usually works if everything is in correctly and the cables are ok...

I wouldnt know since this is my first ranger and I have never looked into parking brake cables before. The threaded stud isnt connected to a cable if you zoom in the cable ends at the back of the bracket and connects to there.

See if you can tell enough from these pictures. They are supposed to be right.

K I appreciate the help. I ordered new parking brake cables but have run into a problem I measured my wheelbase and ordered them according to the size of my rear drums which are 10 inch. But I am hearing that according to some people if you have heavy duty suspension you need different cables?. I ordered the cables on RockAuto and there wasn't a heavy duty suspension specific cable nor did it specify about the 4x4 model taking 4x4 specific cables.

I wouldn't worry about it until you got to fit them and have problems. There is definitely some variability on these that aftermarket doesn't cover well.

I wouldn't worry about the spring code unless you're going for a Concours restoration.

Otherwise what do you plan to do with the truck?

I have a pair of F150 2wd lower leaves with a Ranger top leaf. Rides good for my purposes. (Daily and occasional offroad.) The F150 leaves were supposedly rated at 1660ish pounds. On the heavy side for a Ranger, but there are 1750 lb springs available new. Just make sure that whatever you is the same on both sides.
