GM quality issues


Looks like it sucked on a lemon, I really dont care for it.
It looks better then the previous charger....not as good as the challenger though.

Both look better then the mustang....which looks a ton better then that pile of horse shit GM glued camaro badges on
 
Interesting video, but one thing noticeable about it is the use of random footage from other vehicles and engines for each example. I call that sloppy.

Many of us had heard about the widespread use of diesels in Europe (mainly for tax reasons) before the VW emissions scandal and wondered why more of those diesel cars weren't sold in North America. The number of diesel engines in that video would seem to explain it. Lack of durability and unreliability are all too common with many European cars, even expensive ones. Note that Land Rover/Range Rover had two engines named in that video.

Much like Ford did with the Mustang in 2010... Dodge painted themselves in the corner with the Challenger. When you can't make it look any better the only option is to either never change it or make it look worse. Dodge never changed it, Ford just keeps making it look worse.

I kinda got out of caring much about Mustangs but I was just thinking the other day I hardly ever see them anymore, especially new(er) ones.

I havent cared about a mustang since 93.

Really the foxes and the big bodies were the only ones i liked. Wont lie though the Cobra II's looked pretty cool

I find this to not even be a new issue with frequent start/stop being bad... when I drove a kenworth we were told 100 times, leave it running, the diesel is cheaper than a new starter (corn harvest, short haul, 15 different stop and wait spots per trip... scales, dump, scales, field, side of grain tender, etc etc - lots and lots of park it for 2 minutes over and over)... even when diesel got to $4, the boss ran the numbers and said just like before only shut it off if you have a long wait (if the yield is poor and you have to wait at the field for 20 minutes for the combine to gather a trucks worth). I don't think the boss guys were even figuring engine wear, just the cost of a starter (assuming they/me replaced it).

Starters are not that expensive in the grand scheme of things.

Difficulty in restarting was probably the issue, a lot of semis don't start super great. Especially by the time they shuffle down to be a farm truck. Its hard to put a monetary value on the PITA factor of running the batteries down in the middle of nowhere.

The Motorcraft battery in my Ranger has a sticker on the side saying the warranty is void if used in a vehicle with start/stop. Sounds like Ford agrees with me.

Start/stop is a "looks good at first glance" kind of thing. As long as you don't dig deeper than that, it looks like a great idea. Solar and wind power are the same. Unlike start/stop, there can be reasonable and proper applications for solar and wind, but not in the way some people want to use it and where they are installing it. Putting solar farms on perfectly good farm land is just plain stupid when there are plenty of roofs all over the place where they can be placed and won't impact farm land or require cutting down forests to install them. Some countries in Europe is learning a hard lesson on going full press on renewable energy now, and others haven't gotten the message and are still pushing forward on it. Apparently, we haven't gotten the memo yet either.

Anyway, back on subject. A lot of the crap that is being pushed into vehicles is not wanted by engineers because of the long term detrimental effects to reliability, never mind the long term effects that many of the things being pushed are more harmful on environment that they are supposed to be cleaning up and protecting. I believe one of the videos posted in here stated the same on both fronts, definitely on the reliability side of things.
 
Some day when I get bored enough now that we are out of warranty I need to neuter the start/stop in the bronco.

The only thing better than when it shuts off, the A/C winds down for 15sec before it restarts the engine is when it kicks off when I park in the driveway and restarts when I put it in park just so I can shut it off again.

I think you can do that in forscan, or at least the question has been asked. Alternatively, you can go the route of Johnny O and plug a light strip in the trailer connector, or plug something in the A/C connector on the back of the console. If you have those. I know the first one works. I haven't paid attention on the second since I normally hit the disable button when I first start the truck. When we were at LBL, I had the battery bank charging off the A/C plug while we were driving around.
 
rams are the worst things we have had.
Seen several videos on YouTube from shops saying that oil flow to the back of the heads on the Hemi is poor and the valvetrains are F'd by 60,000 miles.
Unlikely that I will ever buy a Ram/Dodge but the wife's Chrysler minivans are anvils that run forever, or at least until she totals them, which happened with the last two. The first was her fault, the second someone else ran a red light and T-boned it.

the government has caused much of this with the artificial requirements. and incentives to force people into shit they dont want. the problem with the leadership at ford is they will suk on the government teet instead of actually serving the customer.

I have a 2006 Ram 5.7. Bought it at 190,000 km, now has 210,000 km. Its been fine other than rust.
