What does everyone think personaly of my 2002 ford ranger fx4 off road

as far as? To us on here its a somewhat rare ranger as to how it is optioned out. It would IMO be far more desirable if it had 'twin sticks' as they were referred to. Manual trans and manual T-case which only came in the 02 Fx4 offroad-03 level II with manual transmissions

To the general public its just a run of the mill older truck that is nothing to write home about.

Us on this forum or any ranger forum for that matter are in the vast minority of ranger owners. The majority bought them because they were small cheap trucks that were easy to maintain, and when they were done with them / outgrew them they got rid of them. The main reason why i got rid of my 03 was the piss poor fuel economy. If I was going to get fullsize truck MPG i might as well get a fullsize truck and I also wanted to have usable rear seats, the jump seats were a joke for anyone other than kids.

Picture would be nice.

I know you post a lot about your Ranger, but when you start a new thread it would be very helpful to us if you would upload the picture again so we can see it without searching. 🙂

I'm with Rick on this one. You should post photos and details with your Question.

As far as the 2002 Ford Ranger FX4 in General, it's probably one of my favorite Rangers and was Fords first real effort to design a Ranger for offroaders with the exception of the 1.5-inch lift on the STX Hiriders.

Manual transfer case
31-spline 8.8-inch axle
Torsen Limited Slip
31-inch all terrains

2002 was also the only year that there was only one FX4 and not a Level II.

Not all FX4's after 2002 had the 31-spline 8.8 and Torsen differentials.

So as FX4's go, that's the one to have in my opinion. I know people don't see these trucks as collectible, but if they were, a 2002 Ford Ranger FX4 would be a must have.

I have no personal opinion of it. Its yours

My Ranger is a 2002 fx4 off road with the 5 speed automatic and automatic 4wd.

Your opinion on what you think of my ranger and the look of my ranger

It does not have auto 4wd. It has what is known as ESOF (electronic shift on the fly) 4wd.

I like the sound of auto 4wd =) ESOF is alright and what does on the fly mean i dont have insects in my ranger.

it means you can shift into 4wd while moving, up to 55 MPH IIRC. You used to have to stop, park, get out of the truck, lock the front hubs in and then get back into the truck and pull the lever into 4wd. ESOF 4wd is a wonderful thing, when it works right

it’s a Sharp truck was very good features. If you’re thinking of car shows and things like that, I do something about the miss match in the color of the door. Either have the door re-sprayed and blended with the fenders or put some graphics on it. But I don’t think the graphics will totally cover the mismatch in the paint.

But it’s a sweet truck

Gary,

Little piece of advice for you. At the end of the day, the only person's opinion that matters when it comes to your truck is yours. As long as you are happy with it, then that is all that matters

looks great, but the passenger door doesn't match the rest of the truck :p

Seriously, though for a 23 year old truck it looks good. Enjoy it, and if you are able, take it to a TRS event.
