Yeah, it was bad. I think I'll do it again when I install the new rotors, pads, drums and shoes.

Still trying to figure out my clunk/thump I can feelnin the floorboard. I admit user install error on the shocks, so ordered 2 new ones and the install tool. I had 2 Sachs brand shocks delivered, but there was no way to tighten the nut because of no access to the nut on the shaft, it sits up in the shock tower, so back to the KYBs. I removed the shocks today for install, but couldn't get the new ones in as stated. Well the shaft is stripped on one, so with no shocks, I moved the truck to my side drive and still felt the clunk.....New upper a-arms, lower ball joints, sway bar links and sway bar bushings. Tie rods are nice and tight. I did read a couple threads about caliper bolts backing out, causing a thump/thud felt through the floorboard. I have an entire brake system to install (rotors, innner and outer bearing, wheel seals, pads, shoes, spring kit) so maybe I'll come across something loose. Caliper bolts will get some blue loctite regardless.

You shouldn't need thread locker for the caliper bolts. For the mounting bracket, yes but not the caliper. Being that it's the blue type, not a big deal but you shouldn't need it if the bolts are tightened correctly.

Yes. Those have been known to back out, even when properly torqued.

New rotors with new Timken bearings, races, wheel seals and even Timken grease. Having surgery tomorrow and waiting to prep, so took advantage of staying busy since I can't eat.....thats all for now. Next Saturday hopefully I can get it all installed. Bonus pic of shoes, pads, spring kit, etc.

It's never happened to me but I'm seen it on other people's cars. After the second one, I started thread locking mine. Granted, it could of been the mechanic that worked on it before and not the equipment. Why torque when you can ugah dugah?

I'm just hoping its something simple on the truck, the clunk/thump that I am feeling through the floorboard. Next Saturday when I do the brakes, I am going over all previous work I did with a fine tooth comb.

Completed the brake job yesterday, front and rear. Also put in 2 new front shocks and a egr pressure regulator valve. For the first time since owning this truck, I have zero maintenance items planned. Now its on to things like window tint, tonneau cover and stereo system.

Check your state laws on the tint. While a lot of places don't enforce them, it can be an issue in the future that will get you a ticket or the officer may make you remove the tint right there on the side of the road.

Here, only the rear window and the side windows on the rear suicide doors of the Supercab or the rear door windows on rhe Supercrew can be tinted. The front door windows and the winshield can only have what came from the factory. Every state is different. So, you may have more latitude there than we do here.

I live in Kansas and for the last 35 years have had illegal tint. Never an issue. Legal is 35% driver and passenger, down to AS1 line on windshield. I have 20% on all my vehicles.

As long as you know what you can get away with as well as the rules. It doesn't seem like it gets enforced much anymore. But we do need to throw the caution out there, just in case.

I know people with 5% in Kansas, never an issue. Don't drive like a clown and not a problem. I have 2 good friends that are highway patrol and another is our towns chief of police. Add in my friend that's a district judge, I'm not too worried.......

Hey summers, did you ever get the clunk figured out? I have the same thing going on with my 98 and it is driving me nuts!
