The shop manual set and wiring diagram book are Ranger specific.
The powertrain / emissions manual will cover all the of the different drivetrains for that year.
Yes, that's pricy. You may find a complete set, or make a complete set, for less money but more time, by checking eBay daily. Manuals that get listed with a low BIN (buy it now) price don't last long at all, and you have to check often and scoop them up quick. And it may take a while before what you're looking for gets listed at what you want to pay.
I guess it depends on, if you have more time than money, or more money than time (or, like me, short on both : ).
Try making them an offer.
I honestly feel, though, that factory manuals will pay for themselves, even at that asking price.
