Looking to source a cylinder head for a 1992 Ford Ranger and apparently they don't exist anymore. Anyone have any idea where I can go to find one?

What motor?

Welcome to TRS :)

Yes, need engine model, 1992 Rangers had 4 options
2.3l 4cyl
2.9l V6
3.0l V6
4.0l V6

All used different heads, and all are available as rebuilt

I buy them from an ebay rebuilder. Never had trouble with amy rebuilder yet

It has a 2.3. Four cylinder casting number F26E.

Did you check ebay?

You can use '89-94 Ranger or I think '91-93 mustangs for heads, your casting number is '92 but there are more options... I don't remember if the intake manifold pattern changed in '95 or not, I know they changed the valve stem diameter and a couple other small things but with an assembled head that wouldn't matter much...

As I understand it, the intake ports are different. That's why I am looking for F27E head.

You will find this:

Head Variations
There are several variations on the 2.3 heads though they break down into (4) distinct types:

1) Passenger car oval port heads - 1974 - 1980 Mustang, Pinto, Fairmont, Bobcat, etc.

2) Passenger car D-port head - 1981 - 1995? T-bird, Mustang, Etc.

3) Truck round port - 1983 - 1985 Ranger

4) Truck D-port - 1989 - 2001 Ranger. The 1989 - 1994's and 1995 - 2001's have different combustion chambers and ports. It is thought that the newer head is better designed.

I just looked at the intake gaskets between '90 and '97 and the intake gaskets look a little different but mostly the coolant port that I believe disappeared in the redesign which would honestly be the biggest change since the heater circuit goes through that I think... honestly I don't remember where that goes...
