Well, I screwed up. I took the site offline and updated it while Google was doing a core update. We're currently taking a hit on search results.

Is that why I'm getting slow upload times when I click a thread? I cleared cache and that helped some but still slower than other sites...

I wouldn't worry about the search results too much. We'll be normal again shortly. There's just too much valuable information here. From what I've seen we're by far the most active automotive forum in English too.

The load times seem normal at the moment, but they were very noticeable late last night. I've submitted a support ticket to see if there's anything that we can do to speed up the server.

This may go back to the AI Bot scraping the website issue. I had added a script that would block them, but after all of these updates I unblocked them. When I do a search online the first result I get is from AI and it always has a link to the resource. If AI is giving Ranger related results back, I'd like for it to be giving people results from us. I could always go back and re-block them and see how that effects performance.

It's a case of trying to find that happy median.

I just went to a new browser window and searched “Ford Ranger Axles” and we came up first after the shopping ads.

One thing I like is that when I open the forum now, and I click on the bell for the folks who have answered one of my posts or such, they come up in a different color, and there’s the little black dot on the right side for the ones that are unread. I try to look at everyone who has responded to something I posted, as a courtesy at least, but sometimes I miss. The little black dot helps me cover all bases.

But don’t let your head swell up. We’ll see how this goes and we’ll see if we keep you…
