What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Went to Armor Ditch for a few hours to check it out. I'll have to get some friends to come with me for the mud holes. Had to put it in the ketchup when I realized the mud wasn't frozen!

It's kind of nice not having to worry if I'm going to get fined by fish & game.

Had an early day at work so swung by my uncles afterwards and got the ranger buttoned back up (for now) thanks to a mild miracle I remembered where all my loose connectors and hoses are supposed to go 😋 ooh.. I didn't re-attach the EGR yet I guess.. but..close enough.

It's impossible to get a torque wrench on the back drivers side valve cover bolt by the way.. dumb.

Wondering what this tube-y job is coming off the TB is and why its capped off? @scotts90ranger ?
I'll try to look tomorrow at mine... but like said above it could be the fresh air part of the PCV system or it could go to the charcoal canister... I know my crank vent hose goes to the plastic intake tube to a port vertical just behind the fill cap not out of the throttle body but someone could have put a different throttle in it.

That capped off line is supposed to go to a fitting on the valve cover. It's part of the PCV system.

Thanks guys, sounds like my setup is more like scotts.. I have the vertical port on my valve cover right behind the fill cap and it's got a hose that runs over to the intake tube kinda right next to the coilpacks.

Damn thing has ALL the blow-by too lol.. throttle body is grooosssssss.

This is awesome.. thanks for sharing. I didn't know this place existed.. it's now 'on the list'!

Have you been to Jericho mt in Berlin? Bit further of a ride from mass but its awesome.

You can do a catch can between the TB and the valve cover. Stuff a little steel wool in there to give the oil something to catch onto. It won't totally eliminate oil mist in the intake but it will help. Remember to drain the catch can and clean it out at every oil change.

I don't know why self draining catch cans aren't more of a thing, it's a simple concept, we do it at work, just have the inlet at the bottom, outlet at the top and have it over the port on the valve cover, anything caught will work it's way out of the can back into the valve cover...

I'm not too worried about it with this motor.. at 218k miles it's definitely earned it lol.

The place is neat. The pub along the street owns the land so all the trails end up in their parking lot.

I have not checked out Jericho yet. It looks huge, but isn't open year-round. Seems to be about the same distance as Rocky Mountain which is also on the list.

I've been to Rocky Mt. once or twice to ride wheelers around pre-season and it was somewhat disappointing honestly.. at least for 4-wheeler stuff. Definitely seems like a cool place to go if you have a rig that youre willing to smash the hell out of though. Dude that owns it lives in a shack in the middle of the big open part of the park lol.. kinda greasy setup.. total free-for all.. has the potential to be MUCH better.

Jericho is wicked awesome.. good variety of trails from 'mild' to wild.. less drunk yahoos.. beautiful location.

Can't wait to get back there next year, definitely want to grab some skidplates over the winter.

That port on my throttle is plugged as well, probably the port for the flux capacitor, apparently we don't have one...

That doesn’t matter, the 2.3L can’t get the truck up to 88 MPH anyway.

Installed the mount for the navigation tablet. I forgot about the front of the seat mount wrapping around and down. Bolted the mount down anyway. I think it will work but the move to purchase a proper DMR mobile radio might be getting accelerated. Things are much more crowded over on the passenger side than I originally planned. I'll try to remember to get a picture tomorrow.

I installed a mount for a tablet for off road navigation in the 2011. It still needs a little work. I may be able to shorten the post portion for a better fit. I’ll have to see if I can take the post and flexible neck apart and then, if I can cut the tube shorter, drill new holes, and reassemble.

Either way, I’m going to need to speed up the planned purchase of a proper DMR mobile radio so I can free up the space where the HT is. There is already a bracket on the radio mounted on the front of the seat to hold another radio.
