77 LTD II

How are you guys bolting M blocks to 10r trans?
Performance automatic makes a 6r adapter. The modular pattern is pretty much the 221 series. I'm going to make my own adapter. I'm already running a 6r80 behind my 302 in the ranger. I should be farther along in the project but I have been busy with everything else. And finding 10r140s that are used that costs more than what ford wants is just a WTF.

The 221 series adapter is just a ¼" plate, run the same concept, pretty much the aod to 351M/460 adapter idea.

Gotcha. Now im not real up on the EFI stuff so forgive me if this sounds stupid but when you say godzilla EFI do you mean an EFI/ECM etc from the 7.3 godzilla? Or is it a name of an aftermarket kind? If its aftermarket i also didnt know they made a standalone ECM for the newer trannys to run those

That is correct the 7.3 Godzilla EFI, no one makes a stand alone controller for the 10R140. The crank wheel is still same as they always have been and the cam phaser eliminator for the 7.3 used the same old half moon pickup for the cam. I have my computer and harness sitting here already.

What are you planning on putting it in?

Commenting just to follow the thread. This thing would have been barely visible 20 years ago but now I look at it and thing damn... Its actually pretty cool
Its funny i tried selling this thing a long time ago when it was still running good. I put 2000 on it and never got so much as a call.

Now they have gone way up in value...like...way up. Clean all orginal show worthy ones are bringing 15-18k. If mine was running i could pry get 6-7 from it and its far from pristine.

T birds/Cougars seem to go for more then the LTD II's....but the big, big land whales (Town cars, LTD's, marquis) from this era seem to still be pretty low priced. I know where theres a beautiful 78 Town car (at a lot no less) for 8000.

@rusty ol ranger this car would be right up your alley:
That thing is drop dead gorgeous

Oh and if anybodies wondering...this isnt a dead project. Ive just been to busy to get to it the last few weeks. Once the weather cools off ill be making alot more progress

Quick update...

Went out today with some free time and beautiful weather.

Took carb off and mounted a lifting plate.

Crawled under and started taking out motor mount bolts.

Last bolt snapped clean off inside the block.

Guess im pulling the motor.

Question...ive pulled a few engines in my time but theyve always been hooked to manuals. Im nervous as shit about the torque converter.

Would i be better off pulling everything as a piece? Am i worried to much? Any advice is apperciated.

Oh and sorry about lack of pictures this round...my phone was dead.

Just unbolt the torque converter from the flex plate and leave the converter in the transmission, jack the transmission up at the front (ratchet strap around frame works too) and just pull the engine out, it's easier than getting the input shaft through the clutch and into the back of the engine and no lining up splines just the 4 studs on the converter...

So i dont need to worry about the converter "unseating" or whatever?

In cars I pull motor and auto trans together. Always thought it was easier. But then I was replacing both anyway.
That was my original plan.

Sucks because i had a clear plan with this thing now im right back to a crossroads lol
