So, I have a 96 Ranger for a parts truck for my 92. Im curious if the intake on the 96 2.3, will flow better than the intake on the 92 2.3? Can the EGR be deleted without swapping the whole harness and ECU? I got lucky on the exhaust side, PO put in a shorty header and deleted cats on the 96 :)
Im interested in learning what can be done with these motors on a budget for the most part.

Roll a axle under the butt with 4.10’s , esp if you had 3.45’s , Thats about the best bang for your buck without swapping to a bigger motor or doing the turbo thing. (Id love to turbo, but too cheap. lol)

I do wanna go turbo with it later on. And it does have a 3.45 rear gear. Could probably just pull a turbo from a powerstroke out of a junk yard, grab the manifold off ebay for $150 i think, and fab the charge tubing if you have the means. lol

You'd have a lot more luck making boost with a properly sized turbo lol.

If you do indeed want to go with a turbo later on, you might want to just leave the gears alone. Turbo crap likes a bit lower gear than if it was the same vehicle but n/a. Load helps make boost.

gotcha. Right now, im just playing with N/A power. ive heard of the 95+ rocker arm swap for more valve lift with the older cam. I wonder If the intake manifold from the 96 parts truck flows better than the factory one on the 92? More valve lift, plus better flowing intake, plus tube header with cat delete and EGR delete. hope for 20hp uplift? without tuning, thats probably best that combo does lol

The only gain you are going to get on the intake is pulling the cylinder head and attacking it with a die grinder and bits... the head is the restriction on the Lima's not the intake manifold, while there I took down the bumps in the intake around the fuel injectors and did some gasket clearing (not familiar enough with the port shape on the dual plug intakes, the D port intake and head were a mess and not possible or helpful to gasket match...), that woke up the engine some, lost like 2-4psi of boost with the same turbo which means I'm getting more air to the cylinders...
