I was just reading an article about this and came here to see if anyone had started talking about it. I wanted the new ranger but where I live they only sell the diesel and soon it will be basically impossible to drive diesel. I have my hopes on a competitive EV version of the Ranger.

There have been news stories about the use of a/c during the current heat wave causing power grid overloads and blackouts. If the grid isn't upgraded adding a few million electric vehicles charging every night will leave us all in the dark.

I wish that was an issue were I'm at. We don't have A/C systems here. Its seen as an unnecessary thing and extremely non efficient.

no ac here and people die.

adding electric cars to texas' already overloaded and poorly run system will certainly cause people to die, just like when the system went down during the winter storms this past january. it would be nice for ac to be unnecessary but that doesn't work when temps are near 100 with 80%+ humidity for 9 month of the year. solar and win power don't cut it either, as shown by the people who died this past winter

No argument here. A responsible government would fix the problem. But that would take tax payers money. See the problem?

and the tax payers money is currently being used to fund lobbyists so rich out of touch people can stay kings in their minds

Well Ford introduce the Maverick this year, small 4 door pickup, which has a Hybrid version, no plug in
Our sister Forum for that here: https://mavericktruckin.com/forum/index.php

Maverick is also a bargin price, $21k base price and about $26k with options
Hybrid does 40MPG around town, 33MPG highway, which is opposite of most vehicles, lol, electric is used more around town

For the timing being I would tend to stay with no plug Hybrids, because of the NO limit range(just gas tank size, lol) and power grid issues in your area

Full EV has it's place, for sure, just not for my driving needs with its limited range, and cost for these is high

Ford is making the F-150 Lightening now, I am sure they will be watching sales numbers for this before jumping into offering Ranger electric models

This is where we have a conflict of private, public, the free market, and the debate around government regulation. Most of the electric grid (or portions thereof) are privately owned, and Wall St investors aren't interested in spending money on upgrades in Texas because that means less money for them.

Surprisingly the dealer I work for in BFE Ohio has already sold 3 Lightnings.

Medina is "BFE"???? what 'da hell do you call places like Burgoon?
Wellington actually. A place like Burgoon, or Larue, don't have dealerships, I call those places effing depressing, but not because they don't have dealerships lol.
