What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

performed some tool& die creativity and made a 1/4" drive 1-1/8 " socket for the front pinion nut so I can attach my 1/4 drive inch-pound torque wrench.

if you look close the first couple of threads are missing from the nut. I ground them off to make a shim checker nut.

I should have done that instead of making a leaning tower of adapters. For next time. You make a setup bearing too?

not yet on the bearing(s).
that "socket" is made from a worn out fuser roller from one of the copiers I used to work on. it has a closed end tube.

I just used a die grinder to open the center of the old bearings just enough that I could slide it on and off the pinion by hand.

Hey rowdy I’ve seen your 87 ranger with the 302 swap looks amazing! Just wondering how much bludgeoned you got on your fenders?

Thank you, the old fiberglass fenders or the stock fenders that I cut out?

Took my Ranger to a "Rigs & Coffee" event this morning. It was hosted by a group that enjoys overlanding. It was a pretty rainy morning for that. But met some people and saw some cool rigs.

I like this thing. Has approx. 3,000km on it. Just imported from Japan where it was a firetruck, hence the tall roof so fireman could wear their helmets. For sale at $65k. It has a diesel engine.

Oh......that is awesome.....times a million.

Not much Ranger related for me today aside from jump starting my F350 which took my explorer with a gallon of washer fluid on the gas pedal holding it at around 2500rpm along with the '97 Ranger hooked to the other battery with me holding the throttle under the hood for like 5 minutes to get going... jumpstarting that thing is super annoying!!! I've really gotta find that power drain... takes about 3 weeks to drain both red top optimas, not as much of an issue in the summer but below 50 the glow plugs need a little more go... as per normal it took over half an hour of screwing around to get the stupid thing jump started, that 100A draw for the glow plugs makes you go backward FAST...

Anywho, was driving the F350 to pick up a trailer I was told about yesterday... $1000 for a trailer with a 6' 4" wide by 20' long deck... lights don't work (needs the truck end plug) and it needs tires but that's cheap for a trailer with slide in ramps... that will make the Ranger camping and wheeling trips nicer...

I think it would be the ones you cut out or whatever the ones are you poster on pirate 4x4

They aren’t too bad. My biggest problem is I bent the frame so I don’t drive it much. I plan to frame swap it with a 90’s F-150 Bronco. Some day…

Nice I love it.
How much do the fender stick out compared to the stock ones on the 87 302 swapped?
Also what kind of wheel and tire are you running on the 302 swapped one?
